Replacement barrel has arrived
« on: July 17, 2009, 12:10:30 PM »
Knight sent me a replacement barrel for my bighorn, which I received yesterday. I can actually push a sabot into the barrel without too much trouble. But to be on safe side, I just bought a tube of bore butter. Knight also sent me some new sabots with a variation of the Barnes bullets. Now I have to asemble the muzzleloader and it is off to the range. I have all of August and September to sight in and practice, practice, practice.

You’ll probably find that lubing sabots will decrease your accuracy.

Why did they replace the barrel?  What was wrong with your Bighorn?

It had unbelievable lans. I could not get a sabot down the barrel. I almost could load without a sabot.
The bullets are 0.451 and the lans to lans were 0.470 according to the caliper. The new barrel has much smaller lans.
