Went out for the day to Deep Creek to fish above the bridge, we had a great start, 1st fish 7 footer +, 2nd fish a pig of a 50", fattest one I have seen, then another pig, but this one was a couple inches too long at 56-57".  Then it died quickly and got some bad news from home so we headed out.  There are some serious a-holes on the Deep Creek launch, be prepared for it if you go there to launch and pull your boat.  Got cursed out by an old lady (she used quite a few f-bombs) and another couple guys in another boat for being able to get the boat on the trailer in about a minute and leave and for being prepared?  She then yelled when we hooked up so quickly, "Your cool, you f-ing show off"  Wow-  all from someones grandma.....     They actually wanted us to wait because they had their boats tethered on the small dock there and their truck/trailer driver was still walking to get their trailer before we could pull out.  My trailer was on the ramp in the water if you get that...  I guess they got mad, cause I drop off Tmike down river prior to the dock and he cut up over the hill to where the truck was parked and they dropped their person off at the dock and it took him longer to walk and get his trailer which was about about a half mile away.  We had the boat out of the water, tied down, I filleted the fish before they actually pulled their boats out...  Some folks just don't get it - a small ramp like that it is about being ready to roll when the truck begins to roll down the ramp the boat drivers ought to be ready to drive on the second you can get it on the trailer and not delay everyone else.  Oh - and it wasn't just me, they chastised the guys that pulled their boat before us too......  To make all matters worse, according to the fish checker she said that dock always has the a-holes all the time, and normally is the folks that think that launch belongs to them and NOT many fish were caught....  If your angry at the world, and hate your own miserable life, don't try and ruin others days just because your such a self reabsorbed idiot....  Have a nice day fishing, it is better than a day of work..  I deal with A-holes at work and really don't care to deal with them out fishing- for sure.

 Same *censored* happens all over Mike, don't lose sleep over it. It cracks me up, they think that because they get their boat to the dock everyone is supposed to wait while they go get their rig.  

 I did the same thing you did at Deep River the last time we went, I dropped M-Ray off a little down river by the parking lot so he could go get the trailer, and that cut our wait time down by quite a bit. Its always funny to see the look on peoples faces when it takes about 30 seconds to get the boat on the trailer and be driving off.

 The water gets a little rough at times but I think I will be launching at Chinook from now on, that single ramp BS is just a joke at Deep River.

 On a side note, there is a real nice ramp and parking lot directly across from Deep River on the Oregon side just past Tongue Point 46°10'40.30"N Latitude, 123°45'2.51"W Longitude, look it up on Google Earth

 By the way, unless you guys have a jet boat I wouldn't use this ramp

Oh, I wasn't getting mad about, I thought it was quite amazing to get cursed out by an old lady.  And giving some suttle warnings about that launch.
Heck- a couple weeks ago Pope was driving in the middle lane pulling his boat, when an old couple (70-80's) pulled up next to him in a Nissan Maxima and flipped him off and were yelling at him out their window.  Have no ideal why, not cutting anyone off, not swaying in the lane, not speeding, etc... just a nice easy drive down the 405.....  One pissed off granny for sure...

Now the question is this, how far up river do you got to go at low tide to cross safely?  Rising or High, I cut across at the base of the Island there, wow, 6 inches at it's low point...   It go or no go at that and punched and blew over everything till I hit 2-3 of water.  I have crossed mid way to the bridge, but it was high tide in about 3 foot of water.  I like fishing under the bridge Oregon side, but haste to cross back and forth without knowing if I'll get back at low tide.  Herad below the bridge is decent to cross but haven't tried it...

If you head down river from Tongue Point its not that far before you can cut across. I would much rather do that then deal with the circus at Deep River again, Tongue Point has always been one of my better fishing locations too, sometimes I don't even make it over to the Washington side.

I've been out of there with both prop and pump and have never had problems.  I did hear that a guy beached his boat between the two islands a few weeks ago...that would be BAD!

We have the same drill when at Deep River. Drop the guy at the beach and when we get to the launch he is backing in. Never had any problems with granny. Try the new launch just up stream.

Sometimes it is just good entertainment to sit at the ramp and listen to people piss and moan. I like the guys that expect their wifes to know how to launch the boat and the whole time they are just chewing her up one side and down the other when she is just standing there clueless to anything he is saying.
