Capital One..  :sas:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

You don't need no stinking day pack, just take it all and throw it on a goat.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Daypack
1.  Either 2 or 3 liter MSR drink system (depending on how far I'm going)
2.  Lightweight Cabelas rain coat
3.  Sometimes a fleece shirt if it is cold and I plan on sitting and glassing
4.  Stocking hat/gloves if it is cold (might be wearing the gloves but usually have the hat in the pack for sitting around and glassing)
5.  Parachute cord
6.  Adventure Medical Kits .5 (added a couple of blister thingys and extra ibuprofen)
7.  Petzl Tikka Headlamp and Cabelas small hatclip light (backup)
8.  Rangefinder
9.  Small Camera
10.  GPS, Map and Compass
11.  2 AAs and 3 AAAs (extra batteries for rangefinder and compass)
12.  Knife (one in pocket and one in pack)
13.  2 Garbage Bags (trash compactor type - they're really thick)
14.  Space Blanket
15.  A couple of Powerbars
16.  Sandwich or bagel (sometimes 2 if I leave in the dark and know that I'll be getting back after dark)
17.  Beef jerky or sometimes almonds
18.  Lighter and flint/steel
19.  Space Blanket
20.  Flagging (some bright color - pink or orange)

All stuck in a Badlands Superday or Osprey (if I want to be incognito - no camo)

For an overnighter (or 2) I put it all in a Gregory pack (5200 - overkill on size but I have extra room in case I need to pack something out)
Add: North Face Snowshoe 0 degree bag (or Kelty 25 degree bag in the summer)
REI Quarter Dome tent
Thermarest Prolite 3 sleeping pad
MSR Pocket Rocket with titanium pot and titanium mug
Spork
Freeze dried meals
Coffee and/or tea bags
Katadyne water filter with some iodine pills for backup
1 pair of extra socks
baby wipes

I carry a pair of Swarovski 10X42s and a Mathews bow with 5 arrows

This is an old thread but I thought I'd comment on What's In MY Pack. The pack was purchsed in that great back pack store in Leavenworth for $35. It's light, strong, and holds a ton. I have my sleeping bag, tent & fly, tent poles, shooting sticks, Twin Size Coleman air mattress, stove kit (note the home made alcohol stove - works great), wipes, extra socks, first aid kit, knife, flashlight, whistle, all purpose tool, MP3 player, binoculars, ammo, compass, extra knife, and a few other goodies.

I pack three days food (not shown), all dried - just add hot water.

The entire pack with food weighs 34 lbs. I also include a small water bladder.
Instead of this cooking pot I now use the Heineken pot. It's extremely light & compact; the entire cook kit fits right in it.
Warning! Do not elect politicians who don't support the 2nd Amendment as the Constitutional framers intended - There are no Collective Rights in the Bill of Rights. America is about Individual Freedoms, not collectivism!
