Pics from this weekends 3D
« on: July 21, 2009, 09:09:51 PM »
Tihs weekend Bear River archers had a great 3D shoot, Thanks again to XXX for the donated prizes. I have not shoot my target bow since the national shoot in redding, ca back in may. SO I decided to set it up for my 3d arrows and give this a go. There was around 25 shooters in the release/sights division and I took 2nd by 2 points.. I shot a 654 for the 2 days and the winner shot a 656..... Personally I am not pleased but it is what it is, the great thing about 3d is that not only do you have to shoot well, you have to estimate yardage well...... I am normally very good at that, but I must admit I was a little rusty... infact what cost me the shoot was a miss I had on the 5th target of the first day.... 10 points gone. They had 2 20 point shots, a steel bear at 34yrds and a  fox surrounded by cinder blocks at 24 yrds..... both myself and my partners got those both days.... it was a fun shoot with some good up and down hill shots that made yardage tough...... most shots were in the 30-40 range with the longest being 47 yrds... I felt I shot pretty good overall, but all my 8's were yardage errors.... I had quite a few that were just out of the 10, within a inch..... even 1 yd can make a difference in this type of shoot.  enjoy the pics!!!

Looked like a great setting for a shoot!   There's a down side to working retail sporting goods.  I don't have the weekends off, so I don't get to do that anymore.  :cryriver: Thx for the great pics.
Hunt hard and shoot straight!

It's a trade off for me.  Come hunting season I get to hunt when most everybody else is working.

Those are some nice pictures!  Maybe I'll post some later myself.  It was nice to have you at the shoot.  Your group has lots of great stories.  My prayer for you is that "YOU-KNOW-WHO" shares the love this year so you can get on a nice elk ;)
