True Blue Jay !!!
« on: August 17, 2009, 06:46:40 PM »
I found these guys today in Puyallup right off River Road across the road from the river. Was locating a sewer pipe for engineering design and I saw this bird fly and it caught my attention. I usually do not see them this far north. They were actively feeding chasing down all kinds of Bumble Bees and other insects. They put on a pretty good show. The one picture you can see it staring down the bug flying there. Enjoy.

thats unreal... they're soooooo far from home it's not even funny. wonder if the heat wave had somethin to do with it? the one is only a few months old. reminds me of when they caught that marlin off the coast a few years ago... wow. go buy a lotto ticket asap!

Regardless they are very beautiful birds regardless of species. I wish I had them nesting on my property.

Rasbo bet me to the punch.  True blues have a crest on their head like a stellar or cardinal.
If its brown knock it down

Believe it's a juvenile Pinyon Jay, they typically range into Central Oregon, could easily stray this far north.
