True Blue Jay !!!
« on: August 17, 2009, 06:46:40 PM »
I found these guys today in Puyallup right off River Road across the road from the river. Was locating a sewer pipe for engineering design and I saw this bird fly and it caught my attention. I usually do not see them this far north. They were actively feeding chasing down all kinds of Bumble Bees and other insects. They put on a pretty good show. The one picture you can see it staring down the bug flying there. Enjoy.

Regardless they are very beautiful birds regardless of species. I wish I had them nesting on my property.

Rasbo bet me to the punch.  True blues have a crest on their head like a stellar or cardinal.
If its brown knock it down

Believe it's a juvenile Pinyon Jay, they typically range into Central Oregon, could easily stray this far north.
