Selkirk Unit archery elk hunters....
« on: August 21, 2009, 09:19:37 AM »
I would appreciate reports of any sightings of big bull Moose any of you see during the archery elk hunting season.  Good luck to all of you hunting elk in that area, and if ya spot any big bull Moose, I have a Moose tag for the Selkirks this year and would appreciate any info you might have.  Thanks guys, can always use more eyes in the woods.  Hit me with a PM if ya have time.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Yeah, I found one of'em over on Lamb Creek a couple weeks ago.  I'll keep my eyes open but thanks for the heads up.

Quit worrying about the bears, hell it's the terrain that will kill ya. There are two types of terrain features in the Selkirks, straight up and straight down. If you kill a big bull in the backcountry out there, pack in a frying pan and eat him where he lays. :chuckle:

That is the chit isn't it.

Scotty.....there are pockets of them overthere that hold a lot of them and there are sections that don't seem to attract them.  The moose and elk tend to hang where the bears do, or vice versa I suppose.  Deer, not so much, with exception to a couple mule pockets.

Not blowing things out of proportion, but that country is tough.  I couldn't put my finger on it, as I have hunted lots of places, and it rates right up there with misery sometimes.   Its not for the faint of heart. There isn't much game really for as much realestate as there is, and its dang hard to see them.  Kind of why everyone depends on the rut so much.

Will do Goldtip.  I won't be hunting over there but will have the camera going for some big bulls(elk or moose) I would imagine.

I have some buddys hunting up there, I will tell them to keep an eye out for ya and tell me what they saw. The best parts of that unit that hold the most moose are not the wilderness or remote spots. The last person that died there wasnt cause of the terrain, i will take hill country in remote areas then hiking into the saskatchewan big woods anyday

You mean the guy that got chained to the bumper and drug down the hiway, or the one that got stripped naked in december, tied to a tree and coated with bacon so the bear would eat him, or the school bus driver that got shot because he was causing ringing in some guys head.    :)
