pretty. Looks like a matte finish to the barrel. I like that.

Any specific reason you got rid of the Model Seven?

I'm a .308 guy, but will be getting a 7mm-08 in the near future... great ballistics.

The model 7 was a youth model and didn't quite fit, me, being 6'2.
I really like the rifle. the trigger is a little stiff but other than that it is perfect.

Shoot a box of shells thru it, and see if the trigger does not "loosen up" some if not then get it adjusted by a smith.
Nice gun by the way. Ruger has quality stuff.

i actually got it a few months ago so i have shot it a couple times and the trigger didnt get any better so i put a new spring in it and it lightened up to about 4.5 pounds. so i will end up taking it to a smith.

It shoots really good so far. i am in the process of working up a load for it with 85 grain partitions and maybe 90 grain ballistic tips. It will be my main deer rifle and i will probably use it for coyotes if i get the chance.

That's great. .243 does the trick on deer. I shoot 55 grain ballistic tips for varmints through mine and 100 grain Speers for Deer. I've had bad luck with the ballistic tips on big game with my .243. They just cause to much blood shot when they hit. Maybe thats the point but I dont like having to trim out so much damaged meat.
