Whitetail rut in WA
« on: August 29, 2009, 06:39:32 PM »
When do whitetails typically rut in washington? I was thinking it might be something I want to do next year and was wondering how the archery season typically plays out. I cant believe some of the whitetails that are shot in this state! Hawgs.

I hunt the whitetail rut every year in the N.E. corner of the state. Have for about 20 years now, nothing like it...Its awsome. Up there the rut seems to hit its peak around Nov. 11 through the 18th .The weather can have a pretty dramatic affect on them up there......warmer-later, colder- sooner. Just a rough average, I hunt them with a rifle although the last 4 I've shot have been within 40 yards. You should do it ....it's a whole lot of fun.

Well if I was trying to time it I look to be able to hunt the week before thanksgiving and the week after thanksgiving the peak should be somewhere in those two weeks.

Awesome looking buck. Sounds like late modern or late archery, either one may put me in to deer in the rut.

I have hunted all over this corner for 20 years for whitetails bow and gun, the best time to me is Nov18-25th yeah before sees action but it's never the mature whitetails out running around it's your 31/2 and younger. The biggest bucks that I have ever seen in my life are that week of thanksgiving. The new seasons really hurt the late archery season, opening nov 25th now  :bash: looks ferry county is it now.
