Any moose pics from you guys out there?

No pics, but I was just talking with a friend this weekend about WA moose. He and his wife spend a week this Fall at Stehekin, the little town at the NW end of Lake Chelan. The locals tell them that there are now moose living up there. Actually several are seen regularly near or in town.

That's supposed to be a nice little town. I've always wanted to take the ferry up the lake in the summer to do some mountain climbing right near there. It certainly is fairly secluded.

The only Moose I have ever seen in Wa was near Liberty Creek in the Spokane area.

I saw a nice bull at the head of gold creek, which would make sense if they are in theStehekin area.  There have been several in the beaver creek starvation area for years, even before the big hunts started over in the NE corner.  That may have changed now as that is all barbecued.  the same with the Pasayten which had some up Andrews Creek, another barbecue.

This guy was basically in Washington as I was standing in Idaho when I took the pic.  We were right on the line.  I took my wife over and we grunted this fellow up.  We stayed a teh elkins resort.  A very romantic place if you want to get the wife to tag along.  Bring your credit card though, dinner isn't cheap, but its awesome.

My brother took pics of a bull moose swimming in lake chelan when he was up fishing near stehekin.  He lives in Manson and says the sightings are becoming more frequent.

I was sitting in my truck this AM waiting for the crew to show-up for work when a yearling came within 15 feet of me busy eating the fruit tree buds. She was very funny wanting to lay down and gnaw on the grass surrounding the tree bases. As the crews started showing up making noise and watching her she moved to another area but kept on chowing down.
Beautiful winter coat on the critter...long silver guard hairs on the back,  dark brown legs and shoulders and of course those l-o-n-g legs.

I see moose off and on alot here in the Colville area. I work in the woods but I don't carry a camera with me while I'm working. I usually see them when its least expected (like in the middle of the road on a blind curve). I saw a cow and a calf today in that least expected place. Fortunately I stopped before they turned the work truck into folded metal. I sure would like to draw one of those permits. Filling that tag would be a slam dunk.

Boneaddict, did you draw the 49 north moose permit a few years ago?  Just wondering if you were the person that I sent moose info for thru Bob D.

Nope, The Selkirk tag, in 2002 if I remember right.

Well, wrong answer for me. I heard the Selkirk tag can be challenging to fill. Let's hear the story and see some pics anyway.

Awesome pics!  I've thought abou those sage brush moose hunts, man that would be cool.

My Selkirk story in full is in the Washington state record book if you are interested in all of the details.  Basically My Dad and I went over, it took a day or two to locate some moose.  I found the one I wanted and called him and a couple more in.  It was absolutely incredible.  Lessons learned, shoot one closer to the road than I did and watch out for Grizzlies.  They love moose almost as much as I do.  In the end I ended up with my first Boone animal that I got with a bow and won the Glen St Charles award with the WSB.  It started a fever for moose that I'm afraid I will never loose.  Since then I have been on two major hunts in Idaho, and one in Alaska, all succesful with very nice animals.
