Incentive tag question???
« on: September 07, 2009, 02:36:33 PM »
I see in another post that the east side elk tag was possibly filled out of the Colockum unit?  Where would you of gone for that tag of a lifetime and where would you go for the west side incentive tag???

A good friend of mine has a neighbor that got the west side incentive tag and we have been playing the what if we won the lottery question about the west side incentive tag for a week or two!!  Just wanted to see what ya'll thought too?

P.S.  From the sounds of it this fella that was drawn (west side) doesn't know what he has!!!!!!!

We hunt the west side and have been arguing back and forth about going into Kapowsin with the incentive tag and would that be kosher  :hunter:,or would we go towards St. Helens or possibly out to the Hoh after a big rosie  ?  East side, Peaches ridge, Blues???  :dunno:

Thats exactly what we were going back and forth about, WDFW-SUX.  The way I understand it, any GMU open to hunting is allowed from Sept. 1st through Dec. 31st.  For instance 485 Green River would not be  :bdid:, as it is closed via access and hunting regs also.  They wouldn't give you access to the shed even with the incentive tag.  But with Kapowsin if you had a access permit I think it could be done?  Just my  :twocents:!  I think I would call Hancock to verify if it were me and/or the local warden too!!!  It would be super sweet like in the old quality bull tag days of bugling in a bull and having the reach to boot :chuckle:

kapowsin is private property, so no I'm sure you couldn't go in there just because you have the incentive tag any more than you could walk on to someones farm and hunt with out there permission.
No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

Kapowsin is privately owned, yes but if you have an access pass you certainly would not be trespassing would you?  It wouldn't be "just because you have an incentive tag. You could hunt before archery opens and and any other time that the gates are not locked for "elk season".  Especailly before archery, (early rut)  or during rifle deer or after everyone is done and gone in December too.

I don't know how the Margaret Unit is lately, I've heard not nearly what it used to be???  Or Toutle?

Maybe Teanaway for east side, some corkers out there too.

I wish I had a picture but a friend confirmed that the west side inentive tag was filled last Thursday near Greenwater.  Small 5 point plus a crown point on each side for a 6 x 6 total, about 250 inches give or take. Sounds like it would of been nice in 3 or 4 years.  :'( Sorry no picture.  Hopefully someone will post one eventually.  :dunno:  It was this fellas first elk too.
