DAY #1

We went into a meadow where we scouted before the season. We got the wind right and set up and started a calling sequence with two callers doing cow/calf talk for a couple minutes. Waited five minutes and bugled a couple times didn't here anything so we moved up the hill 100 yds. set up again cow/calf called and herd what sounded like a horse running down the mountain. I knocked a arrow lucked up and there was a 5x5 coming to a stop broad side at 30 yds. i let him walk not what i wanted this early in the hunt. We played with him for five minutes calling him in twice the last time to 20 yds. We stopped calling so he would walk off so we could head up to the upper end of the meadow. When we reached the upper end of the meadow one of my Buddy's had to use the bathroom so me and the camera man walked to the far side of the meadow and did some locater bugling did not get a responce walked back to where my buddy was and bugled into a small drainage and turned around and there was a nice SHOOTER 6x6 standing 70 yrds. where we called from earlier he came in silent. He busted and a couple minutes later a bull chuckled/grunted up the mountain. We got togethere maid a plan and went after the bull up on the hill long story he shut up and we backed out. That evening called in three bulls all came in silent got 50 yds. from herd bull with cows no shot to thick. Lots of good video footage no shot.

DAY #3

Morning hunt checked out a new area hunted a creek bottom seen some week old sign but no elk. That evening we hiked up a new mountain stopping every 200 to 300 yds. doing locater calls the last hour and a half before dark we got high on the mountain and started to see fresh rubs things where looking up. We did some  bugling and a bull up the hill sounded off with three more bulls to our right. We set up between the bugling bulls and the game was on. I was the shooter on this day so me and camera man got set up and caller moved back 50 yds. and started calling the bulls where going crazy five minutes went by and i caught movement to my right and below us it was a bull coming up the hill towards us. He stopped 150 yds out in the open pines. Then i here a elk running in from our left the camera guy Say's don't move cow 15 ft. she stood there for a couple seconds and busted out the way she came. The bull below us see's this and turns and is going back where he came from so i do a light bugle he stops turns around and starts to come back up the hill towards us. The caller starts calling again and the bull starts coming fast he gets to 25 yds. goes behind a tree i come to full draw he takes a couple more steps and stops behind a tree at 20 yds. No shot the tree is covering his vi tails he is there for 30 seconds looking towards the caller ONE MORE STEP AND HE IS A DEAD 6x6 330" to 340" BULL he gets nervous and turns to leave i cow call to stop him and he bolts running down the mountain.  :'(
