Any good gunsmiths in the Wenatchee area?
« on: September 16, 2009, 03:19:33 PM »
I need to have a wood stock shortened and a grind to fit recoil pad installed.  The rifle has sentimental value so I would like to to be done by a professional.

Thanks
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

What kind of rifle? You might be able to buy another stock so you don't hurt the original, especially if it has sentimental value.

I was in a local shop and a woman brought in a beautiful M98, non military, with a dual trigger and well figured Turkish walnut. She had it shortened. The guys doing the work tried to talk her out of it and getting a new stock but she refused to "ruin" the rifle by putting a non factory stock on it, even though it would have been cheaper.
I work with wood and it made me a bit sick to see 4 inches being knocked off of suck a nice specimen. Maybe some nice pistol grips were made from the end.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.

There a guy who works out of One Shot firearms in Wenatchee, his name is John Krause. he does gun repair and stock fitting & bedding and recoil pads. He has done work for me before and does an excellent job. The number for One Shot is 509-888-7468. John is usually there in the late afternoon.
