Cool stuff, Doug!  Looks like you found a nice shallow area where they have to expose themselves.  Did you have to wait for a while at this spot until they came along, or did you spot them there and just stalk up on 'em?

Thanks guys.

They are there every year I guess Tom.  I just found out about it this year.  I went after I read a small tidbit in the paper and decided to check it out.  There were a couple dozen reds and probably about 50 fish total up and down stream. I think they get halted there from a damn upstream.  There was a bunch of school kids there upstream so I tried to stay out of their way.  The water is a bit deep.  I was hopeing to get them moving up through some rapids, but they are at the end of their journey.  If you want th ecoordinates, le tme know.  Supposedly they are there Sept through October.  Its hard to capture anything other than fish under water though.  I didn't get a chance to go shoot the westside at all.  Canada would be good right now for "Springers" (thats what they call them  :dunno:) and chums.   THat run peaks about October 12th-20th.  Usually a few coho but they stick to the pools, chums are very visual, kings...so so  Nice thing about it, the canadian despise chum, so lots of open water to photograph or fish.

I'm just getting caught up on the photo threads.  I love that first shot.  Great capture and screams Washington.  LOL hope it wasn't an Idaho photo.

This is why I love living on water, I live on a creek that there is a salmon hatchery on that my school's senior biology class runs.  I love watching the salmon come up.  Saw a nice sized one yesterday that must have just spawned, it was just going around slowly in a pool, and laying there in the bottom.  Amazing, everything they go through.  Pisses me off when people go and ruin it, I remember a few years ago kids with paintball guns shooting them from above standing on bridges, or saw one kid pull on out of the creek last week, I didn't say anything because I was with my Cross Country team running, and the kids are known pot smokers who would litteraly pull a knife on you, but I was PISSED.  Anyway, sorry to vent, great pics bone!  They are awesome fish, and I love listening to them at night!
I would rather be a conservative nut job, than a liberal with no nuts, and no job!
