Nice! 8)
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Thanks for all the feed back guys and gals. It was the toughest ground  I have ever tried to hunt. STEEP and DEEP. We spent our first 5 days in the wilderness and wore out our boots. We couldn't get any bulls to talk, so a needle in a hay stack was an understatement. I was getting pretty frustrated and even spent a night in the woods without my bivi gear trying to make something happen.
We relocated to a new area on day 6 and got into the bulls right away. I walked in behind a gate 2 1/2 miles and found some good sign and waited till evening, I blew a locater at 6 pm and had an immediate response. he was 400 yds out and sounded pretty hot. I cut the distence in half as fast as I could and got set up. A couple of soft cow calls and a chuckle and he was on a string. I stopped him at 35 yds and sent one though the PUMP HOUSE. He whirled and I cow called and stopped and was looking my way and slowly walked away. At 60 yds he gave me another broadside and I gave him another GT Pro-Hunter in the ribs. He bedded down right in front of me and it was over in a few short minutes. I could not have imagined killing this nice of a bull my first trip to Mont in an area I didn't know. I would rather be lucky then good.
Thanks to arckery288 and his dad Lonny for the great trip and all the packing out. The trip is made by the people you share it with and you guys made it a great trip. THANKS ALLOT

It was a great hunt for sure!  Congrats again John - you deserved it!!!  It was tough hunting that's for sure.. You can't always kill something everytime you go out then it wouldn't be called hunting - it would be called killing..

As for my portion of the hunt I missed a nice 2x3 mulie because of a stupid doe scaring the buck.. Other than that I managed to kill a few grouse!  We were walking out the the trail one morning and there were 5 in the trail ahead of us.. I shoot one right off the bat and then started chasing the others around the bushes.. I missed several times and then two went back towards the trail.. John is telling me about one in the limb infront of him.. I have one about 10 feet from me in a limb.. I shoot and missed the stupid thing and it just sat there.. I ran up grabbed my arrow and it didn't even move.. So, I swung at it with my arrow and missed it and it sat there so I swung again and killed it with my stupid arrow in my hand!  That had to be one of the funniest things on the trip - I don't think I have laughed so hard and I can't believe how dumb the bird was!!  :chuckle:  Then I had a 357 mag snub nose handgun on the trip and John said he would buy me dinner if I could shoot a grouse with it.. I am not a handgun guy but I took him on.. We are taking John's bull to the butcher and there are two grouse in the road.. I pile out throw a round in and the first grouse I had shot at with the gun I hit the thing in the head and had ringing ears for the next 2 days..  :bash: :chuckle:  But overall, it was a great trip, we got in to quite a few bulls the last few days of the hunt and seen some nice bucks and moose as well.. Thanks again guys it was a great trip and I had a great time!  And John-congrats again buddy!

Congrats on the elk guys!  Awesome pics.  I love that country, wish I could get there more often.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Well I am speechless. You guys did great!!!!!!!! Congratulations on the Beautiful bull and the grouse. Those are always a treat. Sounds like a wonderful hunt all the way around and an extra bit of praise to those that helped pack out the meat. Very Very good for you packers. My hat is off to you. That was some amazing looking country you where hunting in and I know exactly how you felt when things were going wrong or not going at all. Glad you stuck with it and made something happen.
