Love that pic. I have heard that so many times from anti hunters, "What if they hunted you".

Two more for S.B.A. Sagebrushstalker and I made it out today.  On about the 4th set of the day stalker called in a pair, tried to stop both at 120 yds but it didn't work the female stopped but the male continued. I told stalker to take him first and i will take the female.  He fired and she took off, I was able to get a shot off at her, hitting her in the hip. Not sure what happened, but the one stalker was shooting at was running out the bottom. After about 30 seconds I saw the one I hit running across the hillside, not sure why but she stopped half way down the hill. I took a hell mary 380 yd shot to stop her. :o

On the 6th set, Ole lucky came in to about 40 yds, stalker pulled his shot a little right hitting him in the left front leg. Thinking he was going to be a runner he made a quick second shot. No need he was already missing his right front leg, had a broken jaw and missing part of his left ear. One tough critter.

Made it out today, I started out with a  "Here I am Big Boy come and get it" call and this Horndog howled back about 400 yrds away. Traded howls again and he moved in to around 250 yrds but I couldn't see him. I waited for another 15 minutes but he stayed right in the sagebrush and sang a short little tune for me. About at the 40 min mark I gave a female whimper back and he headed in . Finally saw him at 120 yrds coming in full tilt for a little lovin. At 90 yrds he died of a broken heart.  :chuckle: Got backdoored on the next set.

The 2nd pic is one that SBStalker popped a couple caps at yesterday but couldn't find as it was getting dark. I thought I would give a looksee today and picked up some blood and "other" bits and pieces about 200 yrds from where he shot it, saw a golden eagle tearing into something about another 100 yrds or so away in the top of a draw and found it. That Eagle sure was giving me the ol stink eye as I approached his whole face was red. Looked like SBS did hit it both times he shot. One took off some hide on top and the other one was a little low.  I think the coyote might have been a little further away than he thought when he shot.  :chuckle:  And I did photoshop his face on my body cause no one wants to see my ugly mug up that close.  :o

Good job guys. VarmintVentilator and I went out on Saturday, we had several responce howls but they were way off, never did see anything. I went out on Sunday and the fog was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Never even heard a howl so I came home and started building fences.  :dunno:

Bullelk, those are some crazy pics... :o

I haven't been so lucky, I have spent years trying to refine the ability to successfully call in coyote's.  For some reason it just isn't working like it used to, especially with the howl.  Now after receiving a new SLR camera for Christmas I have made it harder on myself by trying to get the pic's before the yote is dead in the back of the truck.   :bash:

Spent allot of time last week scouting new ground, seeing yote's from the roads but when I went back to make the sets later that day I just got pics & I ended up rushing the shots.

I am sure that every one who has ever gone hunting has had equipment failure's every thing from forgetting calls, bent or broken reeds, wrong or missing ammo, dead batteries :dunno:, or missing the remote to your expensive electronic coyote call :chuckle:.  But no matter what it is, you make the best of a crappy situation.  We all have encountered different situations that weren't the best, but let me tell you Gringo 31 & I learned a valueable lesson on Saturday.  If you are ever faced with a situation ware the truck you are using to move from set to set in sounds like a NHRA Drag car probally not a good Idea to take it yote hunting. :bdid: With a V-8 that has just straight exhaust manifolds due to broken collector the look on the this yote's face (the only Yote) we spotted speaks for itself.  Nominally they run at the sight of this truck...  For you guys who question Gringo 31 shooting skills, Ya he is still alive.. :mgun:

Yep....I missed that one.  Fired one shot all day.  4 stands and nothing came, that was the only dog we saw.  BTW, saw 2 today, one running hard the other bedded down taking a nap but about 440 yards.....next time.

Got out last Tuesday, and set up on a CRP slope overlooking some wheat stubble. Watched and waited for a bit, then let out about 4 spaced out howls with some barks thrown in for good measure with a mouth blown howler. Saw this dude when he hit the edge of the wheat stubble at about 550yds.  He worked the edge of the stubble field pretty well headed right toward me. He started to get close to my downwind at around 250yds, and stopped to re-evaluate. A 40 grn. Blitzking from my Flat Top AR seemed to answer any lingering questions he might have had.

By the way.... The dog in the pictures had a pretty decent coat, and nice red on the ears, but it was "thin" coatwise. I'm guessing that's due to our Springlike Winter this year. Some of the dogs I've seen pictures posted of on here have looked thicker. What's the general impression out there? Is anyone getting good enough coats to sell? I'm considering taking my .25-06 next time since the coats are looking sketchy, and just "tearing some". The quarter bore is typically my summer gun when pelts aren't a concern, but I think it might be time. BIG increase in range, too!

Thanks Mark. That gun's kinda become my favorite, but I'm about to rekindle my love affair with my 700 Sendero in .25-06. They're bot SHOOTERS! One of these days, I'll have to get the Swift back out of the gun safe! Good talking to you this A.M.
