.257 wby brass help!!!

Hey everyone just wanted to put it out that im looking for any .257 wby brass either willing to part with or willing to sell, or any places that sells it really cheap! i need brass to reload and bugets a lil tight! ANY INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS AGAIN JACKALOPE

i just got it today and im looking around and $30-40 for 20ct of brass its expensive lol but it should be worth it!

One pass through a sizeing die and 7rem mag brass is turned into 257wby brass.
On the left a WW 7mm rem mag brass, middle after running one through the sizer, right a Norma 257 wby case.

ive looked into resizing 7mm brass but it turns out shorter then wby brass and i dont care to risk things! what are your differences when both wby and resized brass are loaded with the same bullet and powder? does it change group sizes? and im planing on loading 120 partions or sierra gamekings im thinking not to set sure yet!

The sized 7mm brass is a little shorter but I dont think its short enough to cause a problem. I researched this alot on the web before I started doing it. 100's of guys are using 7mm brass for their 257wbys. I'm running the same load in the 7mag brass as I am in Norma 257wby brass, same velocity, same accuracy.When useing 7mm brass to make 257wby, the neck gets a little thicker but not enough that I've had to turn necks. So far I havent seen any downside to useing the 7mm rem mag brass. I've read more then once that WW brass is softer then most and it forms better. At 1/4 the cost I'm going to keep useing 7mm brass. If you want to stick with factory 257WBY brass then its going to be WBY at $30. for a box of 20 or Norma at $89. a bag of 50 and that all I've been able to find.

how hard is it to use .300 win mag because it is longer! could i trim it the resize it in the .257wby or ?  because if that works i have over 200 pieces of once fired ww brass! thanks for all the support guys i appreicate it more then you can believe  side not: some should video the resizing and post a video on youtube.com that would great! if i can figure this out  maybe i will lol ive reloaded alot but nothing with necking down.

I haven't used 300 win. brass so if you try it post your results. 300 brass should be fine but .308 to .257 might take more then one step. I form brass for my 6.5-300wby from 300 wby brass, first sizer is a 7mmwby die and then the 6.5. I Have to anneal the necks of the virgin 300wby brass or I loose a few sizing. When necking any brass, start with NEW brass, once fired brass is hardend.

thanks once again ill tinker around with some older brass just practing sizing then buy new when i get it figured out. im thinking necking to 7mm rem then down to .257 wby  cause i dont have a 7mm wby or 270 wby dies! i guess trial and error. and ive never annealed anything so thats gonna be new also ahahaha

When I began reloading for my 257 WBY I fussed and worried about the short length. I was reasurred that it was not a problem. Another problem I was fussing over was neck thickness. The benchrest guys intentionally shoot tight necked chambers for reasons of accuracy.

After re-sizing the brass from 7mm RM to 257 WBY, I fire formed using light loads and varmint weight bullets. No problems were encountered do to length and/or neck thickness.

I then began working up a load using the Nosler 110AB.

I think I have seen better accuracy from the "reformed" 7mm brass. I am thinking that I have benefitted from the necks being slightly thicker.  I did turn the outsides of the necks, but only just enough to make all brass uniform - I did not turn them down to match the neck thickness of the factory brass.

tried the 300wm brass just couldnt get the shoulder low enough  and i played with annealed and not and it didnt make a diffence, it seems like i could only take it down so far then it would leavesmall little dimples around the sholder but i did the 7mm rm and it work easier then i thought! so im going to pick up some new winchester 7mm brass! im still triying to make up my mind on which bullet its between the sierra btsp gameking 117gr or the hornady 117gr sst; the sierra has a better bc and i do plan on making some long shots with this rifle!

The Hornady 117 is a great short range bullet, as it seems a bit "harder", and shoots plenty straight.  The Sierra will blow up at short range, but flies great for those loonnng shots.  I have a 25/7mm AI, (7mm Rem. Mag. necked down to .257 and shoulder blown out to Ackley Improved), which has nearly identical ballistics as a 257 Wby.  Kind of off topic, but that's my only experience with this sort of cartridge.
