well i picked up a 2 month old hoyt alphamax 32 yesterday from one of the guys here on this board and what can i say...the difference in shooting this bow and my old bow is apples and oranges. i am new to bow hunting and this is probably the best quality piece of hunting gear i own. i have only shot about 6 arrows out of it so far. i need to get it tuned and all set up for me but i couldn't resist letting a few arrows fly in my garage tonight. i went from a '04 reflex buckskin to this machine and it is night and day.
thanks a lot brandon...i'm a satisfied customer. can't wait to really get it dialed in hopefully this weekend.

feelings are the same here jackelope shot the weatherby today and it shots amazing? but you def. need to get that bow in the shop and tuned and dialed! good luck in the late hunt and remember to pick a spot!!! :IBCOOL:

the bow will be tuned properly as soon as i can get it to the shop. either this weekend at the nock or next weekend at Todd_ID's shop at his house. i'm leaning more towards that route. that guy knows his bows. either way...i'm a happy camper. glad to hear you got the rifle dialed in. keep me posted.

got to the nock today. it's all tuned and dialed in...had it timed(was way off), had it paper tuned(needed nothing) and shot it through the chrono.

30" at 70lbs  at 282fps 3 shots in a row. seems plenty fast for me.

Well, my Mathews gets 262 fps (I have an older Outback) with hunting arrows.  Over 280 is awesome - your first 3 pins must be darn near touching.

Just curious.... how heavy an arrow combo are you shooting?  Based on some of the independent tests I've seen, I would have thought with that draw length and pull weight you'd have been right around 300.... assuming your arrows right around 400 grn give or take a few.

i haven't weighed the arrows and i really need to but based on advertisied weights i'm shooting 10.3 gpi 30.5" 340 splined camo st axis=314.15 grains, 100 grain slick tricks and then whatever i need to add for nock, wrap and 4 blazer vanes...i should be right around 425-430 grains. not sure how much i should add for the nock and stuff.

at a 70lb draw weight and 6 grain per pound minimum, i really need to weigh these arrows before i hunt with them. i might need to go to a 125 grain broadhead.

Not sure.... I remember going through figuring all that w/ mine arrows.  Seem to recall there's more weight there than you'd initially think.  You may be pushin 440 or more.  You're probably just fine.

hey jackelope theres no need to weigh them arrows there plenty heavy you most like way over 420gr. my arrows your 418 at 27.5in lol and i also ran the slicktricks through that bow they fly good. your probable well into the 440gr range. last year my fmj's weight 447gr at 27.5in! happy hunting and remember to pick a spot  :IBCOOL:
