They're still out.
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:10:53 PM »
I went hunting this evening in a honey hole. I had one cross a trail in front of me as I was resting against my pack in some cozy grass...55 yards, but no shot (was bow hunting). He just came out of the bear tunnel and crossed the gravel, walked up the road at me for a few feet and continued on the trail into the trees.

Theyre still out and about...

At dusk, roosting crows were headed to their cottonwood I know of. I blew on the rabbit screamer...I had about 200 crows above me going ape, swirling all over. It was pretty cool.

Sounds awesome! Good luck in that honey hole when you go back. I would love to get one with my bow. It is always cool to watch all the other critters that come in when your in a stand or blind set up.

Yes, I got one in the spring, but bought my second tag. I have decided I will only take one here on the west side this year if I can with my bow.

However, when I am deer hunting in eastern wa with my rifle...thats a different story.

No one has tried to break in my rig recently that I know of... :chuckle:

Might be back there tonight. I found a nice stump to stand on right by the bear tunnel...might be too close (scent), but either way...should be fun.

Good Luck!!!  Just sent a PM to a friend of mine from Nova Scotia on the BEA forum.  He was getting frustrated w/all the nocturnal bears taking his bait & posing for the trail cam but never around during shooting hrs.  I suggested a 10#, soaking wet rum cake (but I guess its illegal in WA) & to be careful in the treestand if the "cook" held onto the rest of the rum bottle.  Hope that tunnel dumps a big one on you!

Well, nothing last night. I called for a bit and had something on either side of me in the trees, but neither of them wanted to show themselves. ;)

Gave a kid and his girl a polite chewing out for being on ORV where it was clearly posted. Told them to watch out for the warden who patrols this area, he will ticket you big time etc.

Still got a few days before deer, so maybe I can hit that spot again...we'll see. If not, next year!
