Tunk Mountain???
« on: October 09, 2009, 08:53:11 PM »
I have noticed a lot of hunters in this area, but have also experienced limited success.  Drove around to the camps last year and minimal animals hanging.  What's the draw if no one seems to get anything?

I was up there for early archery and saw a tree the size of a telephone pole shredded.  Would have really liked to see the bad boy that did that.   :archery_smiley:

An aquaintence of mine popped a nice 6x8 Whitey with G2's that were more than 17" up there two years ago. His dad's private land.  There's some big Bear up there too.

Tunk Mtn Lookout: 48 32.724'N 119 14.209'W  (Mapping SW is great)

Funk Mtn. gets hit pretty hard by Bootsy Collins and George Clinton, just remember that when you're getting down with your .300WSM.

Exactly my point...this is why Tunk Mtn. is so appealing less hunters...My experience with this general area is you see less deer but the quality in the animals you do see are high enough that you keep it under your hat.

My dad and I, Dad is 84, have been hunting the Tunk Mt area for four years now, Never saw anything big. Last year we finally found one my dad could shoot. He got a nice little 4X4 muley. A guy from Seattle stopped as we were loading it up and showed us his bigger brother. We never saw much game hanging or running around although we hunted hard, that means no road hunting. We invested some time to learn the area so we kept going back. From what we can gather from locals and other hunters, it used to be a good area, but has gone downhill the last several years. I'll try and figure out how to post a pic from last year. Probably my dads last buck.
