Right. Makes me wonder if it's actually quite old and regressing.

@NOCK NOCK
@OutHouse

Its possible that he was regressing but I think unlikely based on three other whitetails that I sot within 200 yards of this one over the years that appeared to be older. This was an extremely large bodied and healthy whitetail that seemed in his prime health wise (4-1/2 years is my guess, again just a guess on my part). Heres a pic that shows his full body for reference. Still a cool buck and one of the biggest three point white tails that Ive seen.

@Holg3107

Yea  I thought I'd throw that out there. I've heard of people harvesting what they think is a 2.5-3.5 year old whitetail only to notice tons of sings of aging (and the teeth of course) and it turns out they shot like a 10 year old regressing buck.

@Outhouse

Its not a bad call and honestly could be accurate! Ive only ever had [2] deer aged (while in school at the UI) and my guesses were off on both of them one by 2 years and the other by 3 so honestly who knows. This guy just seemed to have great teeth and was one of the fattest, healthiest whitetails that Ive ever harvested.

No joke I had a dream 3 nights ago that a massive blacktail walked right by my house in the middle of a freak rain storm. He was a big 3 on one side and a MASSIVE 2 on the other. I threw on all my clothes and was about to go stick an arrow in him but when I got outside my cousin (who lives in Montana) walks out of my neighbors house and shoots him at 5 yards. It was also like the freaking rut of hell going on in my yard. Deer were running like they had their head cut off.

Ever have those dreams that start good and turn into a nightmare ? Me too...  :'( :'(
