I have hunted elk in the area and have seen very few deer. Focus your energy low, most of the deer hunting I have done has been in the Sandpoint area and CDA area. There are some monster bucks in the "high drive" area around Sandpoint, which is pretty close to Priest (30 miles). If you want some info on that area PM me. Good Luck.

Late November up there could be pretty snowed in and hard to get around..  In the fields along the road from Priest River up to Priest lake (like 20 miles maybe??) I have seen tons of deer all year long.  As for up around the actual lake it is pretty darn thick and I imagine tough to hunt but I believe there is quite a bit of public land. Good luck.

Great area to get off the beaten path to rattle that time of the year.  Plenty of public land for you too.  Thick, isn't the word!

This area is really dependent on the snow fall, focus on lake level for whiteys if there is a decent amount of snow.  Like several others mentioned, lots of public land so not a ton of pressure.  Good luck!

I tend to use Priest Lake for a lil summertime VACATION not hunting.  It is thick country lakeside and not an overabundance of deer.  Dont concentrate on the area around the lake...  You are looking for grass fields or logged areas away from the lake

My dad hunted there about ten years ago.. all season long he saw ppl getting deer but he had no clue how. there was about a foot of snow and he wasn't seeing much of any deer activity. I think it was like the second to last day of the season and my dad saw an old timer with a nice big whitetail. My dad asked him how he did it? the old guy laughed and told him to go down to the store and get some doe urine and some new little dish rags.. the guy said to put the doe urine on the rags and tie the rags into your shoe laces and also put some urine on the bottom of your shoes. and then go out into the brush and do some figure eights and loopy loops and then just sit up against a tree and wait awhile.. my dad thought the guy was crazy, but he did it anyway. my dad did this the next day and it worked. he shot a nice whitetail, 6x5.
