Ultimate muzzleloader 500+ yards
« on: October 15, 2009, 10:29:18 AM »
they have a story in the last Trophy hunter magazine. Pretty impressive gun. they were shooting elk at 700 yards. 200 grain charges. I know they are not legal in WA but pretty cool.

Have to agree. No big deal. I like the fact WA and ID require the restrictions that they do during ML season. ML seaons in a lot of states are becoming a joke, Scopes, saboted rounds, closed actions etc. Basically single shot rifles and not a ML. The reason they developed ML seasons was because they were once considered a "primitive weapon".

Guys need these highly technical ML's as a crutch because they lack hunting skills needed to get close to game.

I assume this new improved Ml would be classified as a primitive weapon too? :twocents:

You can shoot 500+ yards with a regular muzzleloader.   I guess I don't see what's so special.  :dunno:

you just have to hold over about 11'

I totally agree.  I wish there were more restrictions for the ML season in WA.  BTW I am a ML hunter.  The reason we have lost alot of our seasons and especially losing the ability to hunt cows without a permit and our late seasons is because we have such a high success rate in part because of our modern in-lines (which I own) and our jacketed rounds (which I shoot).  The more effective our bullets and weapons we shoot and the more affective we are as a user group will mean shorter seasons and more restrictions.  :twocents:

I say Boo.  I wouldn't want to use a gun like that.  Whats the diff. between this and a mod. rifle. Not much

I think its pretty neet, but why. Kind of like hot roddin a civic. If you wanted a long range rifle why not start with a 300 ultramag or something like that? Why start with a slow muzzleloader?
