1st Elk Winston Unit Cow
« on: October 17, 2009, 03:53:48 PM »
Hello all, new to the site (long time reader finally joined) wanted to share my 1st Muzzleloader elk. After years of modern with no luck switched to muzzle loader. I drew a winston unit cow tag and got this cow 1st morning out 1 hour into it. My brother ranged her at 100 yards when she started to walk away had to keep calling her with a hoochie mama to get her to stop and turn broad side finally had a 120 yard shot with my Knight Bighorn 100 grains triple7 and powerbelt 348 grain aerotip. Finally got some elk meat in the freezer.

That's good eats right there!!!!  Congrats!  I've seen so many cows up there but never a legal bull.

That's a beautiful animal!  After I shot a couple of bulls and 'got it out of my system', the elusive herd cow is my meat of choice these days.
