I use it when they're in close.

I tend to hail them in then work them with a small series of softer quacks when they turn.

When they drop in lower I run short bursts of quacks with feed chuckle and single quacks mixed in.

When they start locking up I keep on the chuckles and soft quacks to finish them off.

i use a greeting call to hale them (strings of 5-10 notes mod. loud) and then a loud aggressive feeding call with a few mixed in stings of 4 or 5 notes when they turn and start coming towards me and finish them off with quacks and soft easy chuckles. if they start to turn away i get on them hard and quick to turn them back around then go back to the chuckles

I use a soft feeder when the birds are coming in and get more aggressive on the pass followed up with some quacks.  I use multiple calls depend on the location of the birds and how they are responding.
