friends and hunting dont always mix

I have a private leases on some land in Lewis Co.. I worked at this site weekends in spring and summer for the right to hunt this land. The land holds a ton of Rossie elk and nice Black tail. Opening day, BOO.
I took my friend and sometimes hunting buddy to my spot. He was supposed to get his Mod. deer When we stopped @ Cabelas. He didn't. So while I sat in my tree stand he was going to checkout some other areas on the farm. I politely asked him not to walk in or around the area I was hunting and asked him to stay off one road so as not too trail up where they cross in the evening. Not an hour into my hunt he comes walking up from down wind. I thought there was an bear or elk coming in he was so loud. I said What the F--- are you doing. He said, Whats the big deal I stayed down wind of you the whole way in! Needless to say I was steaming mad. I got down and headed back to camp. Not wanting to ruin the trip I let it go but I'm sure he knew I was upset when I threw my stuff in a pile @ camp.
The afternoon hunt went about the same way. I took up post @ an old access road with good trails across it. I sat on the ground. The wind was suspect but I thought I better make the best of a bad day in the stand. A hour into the hunt I hear him trying the elk cow call. Hes 50 yards behind me again. About 10 deer that were hold up in the reprod waiting till last light to cross bolted out in front of me. A beauty of a 4x4 black tail takes off with them. I sat the rest of the evening in that spot. Not a deer to be seen.
Back @ camp I laid into him about busting my hunt twice in 1 day. I was furious, telling him I would never invite him again to go hunt with me again ever!!! Made for an awkward evening. He apologized but doesn't get why I got so upset. I told him it upset me to work so hard for three months so I could hunt there, just to have him f-up my trip.
Maybe I was to hard on him?

He needs to sit in camp, or I'd drive him home. He obviously doesn't take it seriously, you probably shouldn't have invited him.

You weren't hard on him. I took a buddy elk hunting a few years ago in the Colockum for muzzle elk. His ringing cell phone busted me several times and he drank all the beer, but didn't bring any, or food. OR cold weather clothes so I gave him some of mine to wear, and we were both cold. I dropped him off at the truck stop in Ellensburg to wait for his girlfriend to drive from Seattle to pick him up. So, you were easier on your friend than I would have been.

Obviously you were not hard enough on him the first time, for him to F up your hunt a second time in one day!!!!!!!!
I think a one way ticket home would have been appropriate.

I doubt you were hard on him. He was totally inconsiderate and he knew it!
I took a guy hunting years ago. He showed up several hours late, he stunk like crazy with BO, brought no food except 4 potatoes but dove into all the food I brought for the trip. That was the last time I took him. My patience is less now due to him and a few like him.

Seems to me that Tonymoe hit the nail on the head.
Not knowing and not caring are two different things.
It's up to you to decide if his actions warranted your reaction.

A good hunting partner is like a good hunting dog they are few and far between. And are both hard to pick. Good Luck with your next one or hope you get this one trained right.
