Predators on Public Land near Ephrata?
«

Are there any good public land areas around Ephrata to call coyotes and possibly bobcats?
Short drive from Spokane down to my Uncle's Place, but not sure if there is much area with access down there.
Thanks

Thanks -
Are there any maps of the public land in that area or is safe to assume that if there aren't any fences it is fair game?

Here is a link to the only online public lands maps that I have been able to find. Now just don't go steal all of "my" honey holes!

Don't worry - I won't.....but if you could email me the GPS co-ordinates for them it would be much appreciated
Down around Stratford during the winter last year, my uncle counted 24 out on the ice taking down a doe.....don't think I will wipe them out.
Seen any cats down that way? I would love to connect on one for a nice rug to go with my lion.

The only lines I have on bobcats are up in southern Pend Oreille county. Scouting for elk I came across an area that has more bobcat tracks than I have ever found in one area. Due to multiple sized tracks, I am guessing that there are multiple bobcats in this area. I am a smart guy huh??
I have never looked up any info on a bobcats home range, but I have found multiple sized cat tracks over about 6 miles of roads. Linear distance from one point to another is well over 4 miles. These were tracks at mud puddles in the road on National Forrest land. I have been saving this spot for calling hoping to wait till the fur is nice and full.
I grew up here, and spent the first 30 years of my life in Spokane. I was gone for the last 5 years in Colorado, and have not done much bobcat scouting in central WA. I have been hunting coyotes out west for the past few weeks, and have found some good spots with that link posted above, but have not had any cats come in yet.
If you need some help with those 24 yotes, I can load up a few 30 rounders and
help a little!

Your story sounds familiar....I grew up in Spokane, and then moved to Vancouver, WA for a job. 15 years of service and a pink slip later and I am on my way back to Spokane.
Looking forward to some more time in the woods up in my old hangouts.

I have seen a few Bobcats in the Wilson Creek/Marlin area. Coyotes all over the place. Ephrata PD has killed a few Cougars around town in the past. Have not heard of any Cougars causing trouble lately.

Thanks - It would be cool if one happened to pop in - I would take a cougar too, but the DFW has the season so short this year that I doubt that will happen.
