Do these smiling little fella's quack? I seen a few out on the sound and heard quacking a ways off but never seen any mallards in that general direction

Yep, the female Northern Shoveler has a quack almost like a mallard, but raspier and not as energetic.  I don’t think that the drakes quack, they just whistle.
