I was up at Hoodsport on wednesday and watched a couple of dudes on the bank with fish on right at that tiny hatchery just south of the Potlatch Park.  Drove down the Skok from Perdy Cutoff to Hunters and through the rez and saw at least 6 guys with fish on and a bunch flopping on the bank.

You want real sport, go out in your floattube at hoodsport.  Fish with an indicator and dead drift chum candies, or flourescent yarn LOL.    Then hook one and hang on.  Kinda fun to land in a float tube. You'll have fish jumping into your tube with you, and will have pods of them circling you like sharks, and they will ram you etc.  Pretty cool.

I did this several years ago at Johns Creek. It was allot of fun!!!

This morning the fishing at the hatchery was a lot of fun.  Only had to release one foul hooked (others de-hooked themselves.  Should have had a limit easy except I had technical dificulties with my reel.  I hooked a lot of fish and ended up taking two home..A word of advise watch the tides, I got a little confused on when high tide was and ended up on the far side of the channel and had to wait to cross or swim...I waited.  From what I saw there were only a few people there when it opened  and all caught fish.  The croud started to arrive after high tide 8:30 but really got going after 10.  The fishing had slowed way down by then.   I left about 11.

From a boat I wounder how a super cut plug would work? maybe the Jack Pot. Would be cool to put a few out a troll around the Hatchery and slam some fresh salty chums.

When you are around the hatchery do me a favor and keep an eye on the bottom and tell me what you see all over it. Other than oysters and rocks.

we were thowing corkie and yarn or a jig.  I felt the best bite was first thing in the morning the fish weren't getting pushed around as much as when the "troops" arrive.  Saw guys using everything from corkies to flies but green whatever seemed to do the best.  good luck

Try a 4" to 6" jellyfish, suspended under a bobber.

They dig em. A lot.

Keeps their flesh pale and spongy.

Aint Stick.

Your are damn skippy about the condition of chumdumsters when they git to Sultan. They sure are "prime".

Chrome, deep hue of the flesh, worthy of any table. That is all fact.

The most entertaining part about crumbs is how they keep many people away from edible fish that require a touch more skill..............and provide variety to a freezer that must be chock full of pinks.

Windfall and low lying fruit always keep the prime fruit.......... prime.
..............as always, offering sobering truth.

Honestly Stick, I dont think any Chum or Humpy is decent table fare.  I also dont think most summer or winter run steelhead are worth eating.  I will keep a few chum for their eggs and maybe smoke them up to give to my friends and family that are not as snobby when it comes to Salmon.

Still aint Stick...........

Another funny part is to see the locations of those who defend the "venerable" chum............and think of the time it takes to drive to a location that offers those swimming smolt feedbags.

All the while they must pass up several opportunities to fish for what is turning out to be a stellar year for silvers and kingers.

Surely this message will strike the ire of many............the funniest part is how some take chummin so seriously.........purchasing high flutin gear for chums is kinda like wearing a tux to a whorehouse.

Whatever yanks yer crank, I suppose. But do not be mistaken, pale and soft is positive adjective for many foods and drinks....................but salmonoids aint one of em.

G3's..............GLX...........REVO..........and chartreuse or green yarn. Gits a chuckle every time.

Just wait, jellyfish suspended under bobber will be all the rage.
..............as always, offering sobering truth.
