What do you think about single shot rifles for Yotes, Bobs, Ect.
« on: November 05, 2009, 05:10:00 PM »
I'd really like an AR for killing yotes but way out of my budget... Does anyone hunt with single shot break opens like Newengland firearms, TC's  ect for yotes? I met one guy that did and he loved it...  I hunt in the Basin area ( S moses lake) for song dawgs, and my 06 isn't quite cutting it, and can't find anymore Accelerator rounds to try out!

i used a new england hadi rifle in 243 for my first deer and many yotes. i am way to loving of my ar's to ever switch back for yotes and bobs often times have more than one come in or mess up on my first shot and all you can do is  :ACRY: with a single shot more than one shot with a single you are wastin money not my ideal choice. :twocents:

Yup, just the one i was going to suggest, Ultra Varmit Fluted. i would get it .243 and pop for the best scope i could sqeeze out of myself..
I think the single shot makes you a better shot in you will try and make it count and not rely on filling the air with lead.

Whatever is in your price range will work great :twocents:
If the .06 isn't cutting it, pick up an Inexpensive Handi Rifle. I had one that shot great.
Single shots sure beat sitting at home.

Sorry, yes copper. I did not mean anything malicious. I shoot more ground squirrels than yotes these days so the single is fun (but i will admit getting one on the run and following behind it and spraying dirt like in the old fighter pilot movies is fun)  :brew:

My buddy shoots a 243 ruger no1, the gun has cost him 2 bucks since he's been huntin, not sure how long that has been but atleast 10 years i assume. Last year he shot at a buck 500yds plus and before he could get another shot off it was way out of range. This year he told me he's missed the biggest buck in his life that wasn't dead or on a wall 30+"s. he's not one to exagerate so i know he wasn't BS'n he claimed it would be top 3 in washington. He shot at it once missed and it was raining he tried to put another bullet in but it slipped out of his hands cuz of the rain. He's been pissed for 2 weeks now
Ruger brought back the .220, i just shoot it.

anyone who shoots at a deer at over 500 yards with a .243 should have to sit down and right an essay on how irrisponsible it is to shoot a game at extended ranges with a .243 :twocents:
