Good day in the Colockum

We did not see any spikes. We did see a lot of cows and calves. Also saw 3 branch bulls. The bulls were a 4x4, 5x5, and a 7x7. Oh how I would like a branch bull tag! We also saw a flock of turkeys. Two of the turkeys were snow white. Never seen white turkeys other than at a farm. These white birds were the same size and shape as the normal colored wild turkeys. Was neat to see, great day!

Sounds like some domistacted birds got out of the pens... Unless they looked like this!!!! They are royal palm turkeys

Those are cool looking turkeys Blkbearklr! We too figured they were domestic birds that got loose. The thing that makes me think twice is that they had the very same shape and full thick feathers like the normal colored birds. Maybe they were loose for a while? Albino? Two albinos in the same flock? I dont know. Coll none the less.

A co-worker of mine got pictures of one of those birds this year while working on the Columbia River. As far as we all know they are wild albino turkey's, maybe if he see's this post he will add the pics.

i was up in colockum yesterday wish a fellow board member. we put some serious miles on our boots. and never seen a single fresh track. i could not believe it...

it was the first time ive have been up there during modern firearm elk season. usually im up there for modern firearm deer. and its the first time ive been up there and didnt see at least 100 elk.

i cant believe the difference a couple weeks can make, and how quickly the hunters can push the animals out of the area. wow

luvtohnt, I saw these birds near the cabin I stay at on Park Creek. Could have been the same flock?

There's a cabin up Park Creek.  Is it an old wilderness cabin or a cabin someone owns?  If it's an old wilderness cabin where's it at.  I'd love to see it.  I havn't really been up in the Quilomene too much.  I usually look around and venture west of Colockum Road.  Cool non the less.  That's awsome C-mon that you guys were still seeing elk the second weekend.

I have been fortunate enough to come across a white turkey in the Quilomene a couple times.  I wouldn't think it would be the same one, because my sightings have occurred over the last 4 years and have ranged from Whiskey Dick to Tekison.  Here is a couple pics from Tekison area in 2008.  One was sighted this year in the Skookumchuk and I have a couple pictures of it as well, but they from farther away.  I agree that I don't think they are escaped domestics, but actual wild turkeys.

I found a pretty hidden cabin in park creek with a 2 point skull hanging over the door. Is that your cabin?

 We hit spots all over the Quilomene. We sure walked a long way to see the elk we did. It kinda was awefull when the frozen sleet snow came down sideways driven by 20-30mph winds! OUCH! Glad you posted the pictures of the turkeys. As you can see, the birds shape look the same, just different colors!

C-Money there's a really cool public cabin up Tri-Pod flats you should check out.  It's in the Manastash GMU up around Lost Lake.  I know you're into four wheelers etc.  It would definately be a cool place for you and your family to camp and ride.

Last year there were some white poults up the middle fork of the Teanaway too. Cool to see. It's odd, but I've seen a albino tom that was shot, and it was the single ugliest turkey I've ever seen. I mean I'd shoot it, but it'd make an ugly tail mount. Sorry, this has nothing to do with your thread. Ooops.

Wild birds.....not uncommon at all.  Have seen a few in the Blues over the years.
