first exploration on the salt
« on: November 08, 2009, 11:34:38 AM »
no pics, but yesterday after an unsuccessful day on the flats we went out to patrol the salt and get a feel for it. I hadn't yet printed my sea duck card so I couldn't shoot at much anyways, but guess what... on the way home I stopped at Wal-Mart to print it because I missed my opportunity. A beautiful drake Harli buzzed right by me at no more than 10-15 yards! That's the first harli i've seen in the wild, what an awesome bird. My only real goal for this season was to get my harli, now I know where to go!

I saw a flock of brant today in the salt.  It seems early, but maybe not.  There were about 20 birds in the flock.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Whiteknuckles, I will glady pack your decoys for you!

H20, do the brant stay in WA or continue migrating down? Brant season doesn't open till Jan right?
