190" 8 pointer
« on: November 12, 2009, 09:03:38 AM »
Here is the text from the email as it was forwarded to me.  There is another story going around about a possible poaching incident with this buck.  Could be pure speculation.  I am sure there is more to come.

PERSON 1:
I am hearing rumors that there was a large 8 pointer shot down by Bell Creek that could be potentially a world record deer?  Any news to this?

PERSON 2:
Here's a picture of the horns with my father holding them.  Green scores at 192" gross and 189" net.  Shot with a bow last weekend.   No one knows for sure, but I haven't found and 8 pt. That has scored this high.  It was taken less than a mile from my house where we hunt.  What a monster.  Take care and good luck this season.

PERSON 3:
Check out this buck.  It was shot south of Cannon Falls last weekend, it's a potential world record 8 pointer (see email below).  The guy in the picture is Bob Banks he did not shoot the buck he owns and hunts some property nearby.  The picture was taken at Corcoran's in Hampton.  My father in-law went down there to look at it, he said the rack weighs about 18 lbs and has a 33" inside spread.  The buck is just a freak, check out where he is holding the rack, keep in mind that this is only an 8 pointer, that's the crazy thing.

Kinda looks photoshopped to me? Where's backwoodsboy he could tell.
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

it's a huge buck, but a world record for what?
lots of 190" whitetails have been killed.

No bell creek is in Minnesota.
The deer appears to have been poached according to reports.
Possibly shot during bow season with a rifle, which has not been confirmend.
But the DNR has confiscated the rack, carcass and meat from the "hunter" and also found 2 other deer in his possesion that were not tagged and taken before this deer was taken, which would make this deer poached even if it was killed with a bow.
So sad that this crap happens.....
*
I only said it looks photochopped from the way the skull looks around the edges.
*
It was/is truly a nice deer, too bad it was taken this way..

Who knows what condition the two deer were in that he had in his possession.  Butchered and wrapped in paper, hanging in the shed.  How long do you have to keep the possession tag?  After it is eaten?

You are spot on with the story.  That is the story the taxidermist told my brother and that is what he told me.

here is the quote from booneandcrockett.org

Update: This deer has been confiscated by the Minnesota DNR and there have been 13 counts filed in conjunction with an illegal take

This buck is supposedly a Minnesota archery kill. It is reported to net 189 green. Boone and Crockett Records do contain 8 point bucks that qualify, but not too many. This could well be one of the largest.

Looks like a 3X3 with eye guards...

I love to listen to the East coasters... I shot a 10 pointer...

I even heard someone count the points on an elk and say they shot a 12 pointer.

that deer's rack has 8 points on it. not sure how you can call that inflating anything.

p.s. i too, am an easterner. killed a few 5,6,7 and 8 pointers in my life...even a 3 pointer or 2.

30 yard bow shot??   i doubt that but on WT's I still consider a 40 yard shot max ethically... had too many react to shots even with quick quiet bows from 22 feet up...

ps- I got some size u can inflate ;) :P
