need some help/advice
« on: December 13, 2009, 03:17:02 PM »

ok so i know that this sounds kinda weird. but i was hoping for some advice on spots to try archery elk near forks for next year. i am a WA native, but thanks to the USAF i now live in NJ. i have never bow hunted back in WA and i am planning a 5 day trip next year for elk/deer/bear. i chose forks b/c my family has a small piece of "vacation" property on the HOH river just outside of forks off oil city rd. that they use as a "base camp". all of my family only rifle/muzzleloader hunts back there and i finally talked my dad into trying them with a bow, now i just need a starting point. any help would be greatly appreciated:D

If you have a "base camp" and your family already Muzzle/modern hunts the area, what are you asking?

I have seen elk on the oil city rd before along the river. We can also go behind the gates off the hoh river main line.

That area is in the Goodman unit which isn't open to muzzleloader if I remember correctly so your family probably didn't hunt near your cabin. There are lots of elk in that area though and there are some newer logging clearcuts you will see along that road and elk frequent them because of the feed. If its a dry sept they will hang along the river also. Good luck on your hunt and you can pm me as it gets closer and I can maybe help I live in Forks. nwhunter
