Hand Torque????
« on: December 03, 2009, 07:38:05 AM »
I had upgraded from my Bowtech Allegience to a Mathews Reezen 6.5, Both bows have been good, but having trouble controlling the hand torque on the Reezen.  Worked on it again for about 2 hours last night.  Changed up the drop away.  Papered the arrow at 3 yards, then at 20 yards.  Made all the adjustments.  Finally changed up my grip to where I was getting a consistent shot through the paper without kick offs.  At 20 yards I can group them tight, but when I get out and shoot a 60 yard shot you can watch the shafts dance.  Cut off all the 4" vains and replaced them with the 2" blazers.  Checked the spline and tuned each shaft.  If I can't get the bow to calm down for the way I like to shoot, it's going up for sale in January.  Any more forgiving bows for 2010??? Or recomendations on a corrections to adjust for the torque???

Are you using a wrist leash and shooting from an open hand configuration?  If not, those are the first fixes I would try.  Good luck.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I do have a leash mounted on the bow with an open hand position.  It's more of a straight wrist postion instead of the cocked wrist style that I used to use.  I have had to modify my hold with this bow.

the new Destroyer340 has a nice thin grip like your allegience had and has 7" of BH.
and the new PSE Vendetta XL is the bow Im going to shoot this year ...great bow
some guy have a hard time with the Mathews grips. Mathews new Z7 has a better grip you might look at that bow to.
as for tuneing the bow ..Im not big on Paper.
Have you did the walk back tune? ...if not do this first
and then group tune it at 40yards by moving your nock point up and down.
if the arrows are not flying good at 60 they are not flying good at 20...they don't just fly good for 20-30 yards and then start flying bad..
if you need help you can call me at the shop
1-503-556-1322
I can talk to you more on how to tune the bow.
Thanks...I hope this helps

I heard all Mathews shot that way :chuckle: Maybe you just need to strengthen those hands and grip the bow like a man ;)

Like we talked yesterday you will probably have to modify your grip to accomadate the torque from the bow. :twocents:

Had the same problem with my Dren.  I took the sling off and put on a torqueless grip.  Then I tore up a bunch of arrows, that got expensive.  The Z7 is very nice, handle and all, just as Cory said.  All the reviews have the Destroyer and the Z7 very close, the destroyer is faster.  Hope this helps you out.

I also had the same problem with Dren, Was using the open hand & wrist strap and had my arrows hitting inconsistantly . Especially with broadheads. I found that instead of totally open handed, that if I closed my fingers until they barely touched the bow handle my problem disappeared. It is such a minor pressure on the handle of my bow , but totally corrects my side to side flight problem. It bothers me that it is so touchy because if I forget my corrected grip " in the moment " my shot could be off.  Mike
