I say criminal history check before you can buy a hunting license.  But I'm sure a bunch of liberals would have a heart attack about "their" rights

Whens the last time a "Lib" tried to buy a Hunting License? :chuckle:

Dep Romig is in intense pain in his lower back and right leg according to the daily posting by his family.  It also says the moron that shot him was 100 yards or less and it was clear.  He had a scoped rifle, but they said he could should have easily seen the Deputy even without a scope.  After the shot he should have been able to hear the Deputies cries for help, and admitted to thinking he might have just shot someone, but decided to walk away without rendering first aid.  I wonder if through the scope or some other means he knew exactly who he was shooting at?  I hope he fries hard!!

you can loose your right to own or be in possession of a firearms for a lot of stupid stuff in this state.  Just getting a domestic violence CHARGE, not conviction, but a CHARGE.  And what can be classified as domestic violence is ridiculous.....just getting in a yelling match can be considered mental abuse, and you can be charged with domestic violence, which is enough to keep you from being able to hunt.  I beleive domestic violence is wrong, but I also don't thing someone should loose their right to hunt or possess guns just for getting in a yelling match with someone....

(And before any of you come on here and say I'm full of it, let me tell you I know this for a fact...wasn't me, but someone I know and that is exactly what happened.)

At the rate that this state keeps coming up with more ways to control us, in the next couple of years, I'd be willing to bet, they have found a way to get all of us with some sort of misdemeanor violation.  Hell, just cussing on WDFW land could get you a misdemeanor violation nowadays...

Sorry dude, I will take your challenge.... but BS. (sort of...)

The only time a charge of domestic violence will get you denied from owning a gun, is before you have a finding in the case. (This arrest/denial is not permanent)  Would you rather that every angry person arrested for Domestic violence have the right to run out and buy a gun? Ain't going to happen...

Like them or not, the DV laws are set up to protect the innocent. Most married couples do not have the police called to their homes to break up DV fights. These types of calls are usually indicative of bigger problems, DV laws were established to address the violence that was occuring behind the walls of these homes. Have there been instances where good folks have had the police called in? Sure.   Have there been times when someone has lost their gun rights due to a poorly timed call to law enforcement? Sure. But on the whole, DV laws have protected alot of children and spouses from years of abuse, injury and death. If some jerk cannot control himself enough to keep himself out of handcuffs, I really am not going to lose any sleep over his inability to run down to billybobs gun mart, and now get himself a pistol or hunting rifle. Welcome to bowhunting....

(sorry to all the good bowhunter guys and gals...)

Iceman--call BS all you want, but those were the facts as I stated...Facts are Facts...opinions aren't...I love it when people try to dispute the facts with opinions and beliefs...if you want to dispute my facts, then use some actual facts to prove me wrong, otherwise I call BS, you don't know what your talking about...

bearhunter59, if I read your post correctly, you lead the reader to believe that a friend of yours was charged with a crime of domestic violence and this 'charge' was "enough to keep you (him) from being able to hunt...."

Are you saying he was temporarily denied his right to own a gun, and hunt with it, IE: until a final disposition to the case? Or are you saying that because of the original charge (not conviction) of domestic violence, that your friend permanently lost his right to possess firearms , irregardless of the outcome of the case?

I would like to know this information before I blow you out of the water on this issue.

not sure why your trying to keep this going, but I have no desire to continue down this road.  if you want to keep it going, start a new thread or something, but we've kind of wandered off the thread here...

Not sure why? I will tell you why;

Because I called you on it.
I disagree with the information you posted.
Your comment is vague.
You stated that your comment is the 'truth'.
I am an anal retentive ( Freudian Psychology, look it up...)
I work daily with information like this, and would like to set the record straight for folks reading this post.
And, finally, you claimed that I do not know what I am talking about, I don't like that.

So, I will say it again, state your "facts", and I will dispute them in a relatively civil format. I will use real 'facts', state and federal laws, not opinions or beliefs.

Ok, Bearhunter59, you are the one who wander off the thread topic, and now refuse to argue your point, not me, I was simply following your lead. (Besides, I never did read any 'fact' that you were talking about.)

Here is the point I was waiting to make with Bearhunter59... that if you are arrested for any crime of Domestic Violence....you will be denied any firearm transfer (purchase, trade, sale...) while your case is pending....until your case is final. If you are then found guilty of a non-felony, non-DV case, you get your gun rights back. If you are found guilty of a Felony, or a Misdemeanor crime of Domestic Violence, you lose your gun rights. Plain and simple.

All dismissals will return your gun rights to their previous status. No one is losing any gun rights for the long haul, just because they were "charged" with a DV crime.

Bearhunter59, here are 'facts'...;

 :)Back to the thread subject,
I was in Soap Lake when this happened, calling. I stayed at an old friends place in Moses Lake that night. The guy 'Marcher' is well known in the area as a total loser idiot, he was with his Dad when this happened.

I sure hope the Deputy is ok and can get back to his career.

The Deputy has been in the local news a lot lately. Starting to walk some, he may still lose use of his leg. Got married at Harborview.  Kinda po'ed the talking heads haven't said anything about the a**h*** that shot him.
