« on: December 27, 2009, 04:00:21 PM »
P.O.S !  >:( >:( >:(         What sucks ya can't return guns. my OCD got the best of me and i treated myself to this new shotgun. I will now make it my lifes work to get the word out and save others from this product, shoulda had the red flag when the camo 870 next to it at cabelas was a little more in price. i always learn the hard way.  vent over.

what is wrong? Where did you buy it? Most places will take the gun back if you are having problems, if nothing else, call Remington.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.

Well, what do u want for it? I love Remington and think I can get the bugs out, or have someone else do it for me.

well i'm calmed down a little, at the time of writing i was taking a break after a failed third try to get the bolt unstuck from the rear, the slide arms on this model are detatched and it takes 3 hands to get it all together when assembling, i have two, and the bolt assembly dropped down and got stuck. i just can't believe this is a Remington gun, its like it was made in russia or turkey or something. looks great though, i'll give 'em that. my own fault, Cabelas was insanely crowded, took 1 hour for my number to get called just to talk to a salesman. i had it in my mind already that i wanted the gun, and when my name was finally called this was the last one, my patients was worn by being bumped around by tons of people and kids that frankly need to be on frikin leashes, so i looked at it, said wrap it up, and another hour after that finally got to leave with it. the shoping event is aside from the problems. knowing what i know now, i should have got the 870 camo 3.5 mag, this is the gun i wanted, am familiar with but Remington had this new, what i thought was an improved model. i was wrong, shoulda got the 870. these guns a vastly differant, and i'm not talking about looks, i mean every part of them.
ok still venting i guess, heres a better review. i love the looks of the gun, i like the feel of the gun, thats why i bought it. when i got home and attempted to put it together, i noted the following. the bolt detaches from the slide arms, it takes 3 hands to assemble. the bolt assembly is cheap in appearance and to the touch. sometimes while operating the slide it fails to unlock after pulling the trigger and ya have to push it foward before bringing it back again. one fear i have but not tested yet, is that i can pull the trigger and the hammer falls when the slide is not locked in the foward position, kind scared what will happen got the goggle ready for a test. the safety is horrible. i works don't get me wrong, ya just can't get to it, its hard to get too as its recessed abit, and partially blocked by part of the reciever.i don't think i will be able to operate the safety with gloves on. ontop of that on mine anyways, the safety catches on the trigger housing, i gotta jiggle it a little from time to time to get the safety on or off. its appearant that a sharp blow/fall may fracture the material on the surface of the reciever, i don't trust it, ya can run over the 870, but this one, i don't know. it comes with only one choke, they do not include the three that they normally did. and finnally i noticed after only maybe 50 or so slide actions while trying to figure this thing out, that the cammo is being rubbed off already by the slide on the port side of the gun, guess ill have to sand or smooth out the edge of that port corner of the slide.
i believe i can make this set up all work for me, but i am disappointed with my usual lack of patients, had there not been such a crowd, had i not had to wait so damn long just to talk to a dealer, i am sure i woulda caught these above described issues and i woulda bought that 870 instead. gosh, i feel so much better now. :)

keep us posted,  ive been looking at possibly getting one myself.  i almost swooped one up a few weeks ago but settled for another 870 express super mag.  i held off cause of some of the bad reviews the pre-production models.  was hoping to pick up a later model once all the bugs were worked out.  hope it works out for you and keep us posted. looks like a nice gun and a good concept hope it all comes together for you and remington.

WENT out and shot it today, will take alot of getting used too. slide is a little sticky, twice, i short stroked, and twice, just like i worried, the slide stayed locked after the first shot, and i had to push it foward after the shot before i could pull the slide back to reload. i missed all my birds, but i pinned that blame on me, until i patterned it after the shoot, it shoots low, or in my case behind the target appearantly. i will have to get used to adjusting my aiming to include the rail in the sight picture, that should raise it up enough. the only positive review i got today were from the geese, they just love it :tung:  stick with the 870's believe me, one look at the bolt assembly aside from all my complaints will send ya running to the 870. i have a 22 year old 870, i have no doubt it will be there for me 22 years from now, if i'm still kicking. this 887, i have my doubts, its like a remington knock off, oh it looks like a remington it says remington on it, but as a long time remington fan, i still have a hard time believing it is a remington. the purchase is my mistake, i am at fault for lack of research, that damn OCD  really costs, hell, i coulda got that damn foxpro i have been wishin for. oh well..... maybe next year.

Gun Tests patterned one and it shot way low at 25 yds as I recall. That just pisses a guy off! A shotty that hit's off center? That just sucks! Two of my friends Nova's shoot low and right. Nova and 887 two shotty's I'll never own.

Thanks for taking a bullet for the team Gearhead.

Why does remington have to do that. same thing with the 710 and the 700. They had a great product that everyone loved and couldn't just stick with it.  All they're doing is mucking up their reputatio  :bash:

well more bad info to share beyond the other crap, out of the last 35 or so rounds fired, i had four misfires, and six times it failed to extract the spent shell, i had to pull the round out each time to clear the elevator, then re-engage to extract. real fun with ducks or geese stuck in the wind ontop of you. also learned of two more friend of friends that have had the same problems with it and sent it back.
a free tip, before buying a gun such as this 887, although a very pretty, pile of crap, research it, wish i did, google the words "problems with" _____________and might add the word "forum" to after the comma, sure wish i did.

well, guess me and this gun are parting ways, for a while anyways, like every one else, mine turned to a single shot after maybe 40 rounds, thought it was ammo related but its not, each shot fails to extract. i am so friggin pissed off that remington would market this piece of crap. a beautiful gun that doesn't work, they should have rather married this guns cosmetics to their 870. please help a friend and dont let them by this pile of crap. i am/maybe was a huge remington fan, not so much anymore. i now know of three other friends of friends with this gun, all had to send them back within 4 outings, mine made it 3 >:( :bash:
So now i have to go thru the expense and time to ship off this piece of garbage, only to get it back and probably not have it working right again. ya cant fix it, if its design is flawed and cheap. a huge disappointment.
