Yesterday i was down in fort lewis area.
my neighbor and i hit up all the surplus stores in search of insulated camo pants, what i found was some chemical protective pants that are not only waterproof, but insulated as well.
They have zippered lowers on the legs, velcro flaps over the zippers and drawstring cuffs, Cant wait to be sneaking around the hills all warm and cozy next season lol!

They only cost $25 and some change out the door.
they are thick and durable.

I have worn those basterds many times!!!  You will sweat your tail off.  Didn't matter how many hours of rest I had, as soon as I put those on I got tired.  Hours upon hours of wearing a chem suit and gas mask can do that to ya.

I would never put those on again. I too had many hours with them on and they are heavy. they also make everything wlse black with charcoal even after you wash them. It takes quite a few washings before they stop bleeding charcoal. Garbage stuff, return it if you can unless you want to protect yourself from chemical attack.

I don't know how 'insulated' they are, but the reason they're thick and all 'warm and cozy' looking, is because they're designed for protection against chemical weapons.  THere's a thick layer of charcoal lining in there.  Your longjohns will be black after wearing them. 

Haha.  Hope you enjoy, though.  It's a cinch that none of us that have worn them for any amount of time would ever touch those again!

But on a serious note, my brother uses his in a tree stand not a lot of walking and loves them, I myself will never put them on again

I actually wish I hate a box of MREs, They work great for hiking in to remote areas and staying the night. Light and not bad tasting if you use your tobasco bottle!!

I will take all MREs anyone has. Just PM me and I will come and get em. As long as they are not expired. Had a ham one in Kuwait that had maggots on it, not real tasty.

You can buy them by the case at your local military commisary. If they're not in stock they will special order them. I spotted them last week for $70/$80 a case. Seems kinda expensive to me. I like the Backpackers Pantry meals, all food no toys or crap that I don't need and less than half the weight of an MRE. Far better flavor too, especially beef stroganoff

I have black thermals, and wear black sweats under my hunting gear so the charcoal dust wont bug me.
The charcoal absorbs the human scent so i can deal with the charcoal dust, but there is always a way to seal it in.

6 loads later i still havent flushed all the black crap out of the dang things.
Good thing cold water is cheap.

Thinking about hose clamps to the pantlegs and one around the waist connected to a garden hose like i flush a carbon filter lol!

I wore them for 19 days straight in Louisiana poured the entire time, and the charcoal never came out of them, 24/7 pouring rain, you only have about 300 more loads....

I filled the washer and let the pants get beat to death, rinsed and flushed the washer many times (boredom).
Cleaned & oiled rifles peacefully while washing pants (quality time with the babys)

The water got to only a slight gray color so i gave up on em and called it good.
these will never be used for much more than insulation over other camo pants, so i am not worried about the tiny bit of charcoal left in them if any is.
Whatever is left wont discolor anything i wear in the woods anyhow and i get dirtier messing around the campfire getting charcoal all over everything than i will wearing these now. Most of the wood we gather has charcoal all over it and we get dirty as hell loading the logs in the trucks and chopping wood found in slash burn piles.

What i got them for was to be WARM, not clean lol!

Well they will serve you for 2 purposes.

1- You will stay warm in them

2- They, as you know, are filled with charcoal so it acts like a scent eliminater.

They're not freeze-dried anymore.  Haven't been for a while.

Just to echo everyone else's comments, they are heavy as $##@ and you have to deal with the charcole dust, but if you are sitting still (like in a stand) they probably aren't that bad.  I wouldn't plan to hike much in them though...
