Golden Coyote
« on: December 30, 2009, 10:37:03 AM »
I was driving one of the back roads in central WA and out of the corner of my eye saw a golden flash in the brush and thought golden retriever but I hadn't seen any cars in the area.  I backed up a couple of hundred yards to a old farm road and tried to catch a glimps of him crossing it.  He hit the road and turned down it about 100yrs down the road and trotted straightaway  from me after a short  distance he headed back into the brush.  He looked very much like pure coyote but in a beautiful yellow gold colouring.  Have tried twice to call him but no luck, have killed regullar colours in the area.  Anyone esle seen this colouring on a coyote?

I have never seen one in person but I have seen a few online.  You can do a Google image search for blonde coyote and there are a few pictures.

Yup that was it only he had better looking coat.  Thanks for the sight info.

Head back again next week.  The cast is off and the stiches are out but can't grip the stock or pull the trigger yet. Been practicing putting the gun up lefty and resting it on my right forarm.

Cool critter for sure.  My only other guess would have been fox.  They typically aren't that red here and often have that golden look to them

Funny you mention this.  We saw one last Sunday twice!.....and couldn't get a shot.  He had a pardner and I think he might not be long for this world come Friday. ;)
