Permits
« on: January 06, 2010, 01:16:18 PM »
This might be a dumb question but is there a permit supplement? The only info I can find at WDFW is when you have to have your permits turned in cant find any other info...I know it has to be there somewhere.

Looking for a second deer tag. First time applying...obviously. Thanks.

2009 permit application period started around April 20 when the regulations were published.  The application deadline was May 20.  Expect the same this year.

AKB be aware you will burn any points you might have for that 2nd deer.  The first year they had those it was seperate from the regular permit hunts but now it sucks out your points.

The only way you get points is to put in for special permits, or do you get them for buying a tag?

I just realised that this was my 30th year hunting, and I have never put in for a permit.  Thought I might try it since the regular seasons seem to be tightning faster each year.

You get a point for each year of unsuccessful permit application.  So, your first year you would have 0 points.

The nice thing is you still have a chance, even with no points.  I once drew a Margaret archery bull tag with only one point.  Everyone I met out there was hating me.  :)

Ummm... yeah.

Better late than never.  Look at it this way, you missed out on thirty years of whining about not getting drawn and how every other state's system is better than ours.   :chuckle:

Yea thats a good way of looking at it.  I think what got me thinking about permits is getting on this site and finally coming to the realization that I don't live in a good place to hunt anymore.  No more getting up early on my day off, going out hunting and being home for dinner.  Its now a Hunting Trip, and not an everyday occurance.  The general seasons seem to be filling up with people in my old stomping grounds where I used to see no one all day.  Guess I got stuck in the past instead of living in the present.  Better break out my lucky rabbits foot I guess.

Not if the changes go through. Second deer will be it's own category with it's own points.
