Downriggers?

I've got a couple Scotty Electrics on my Boat & never had a problem plus I believe most Shrimp/Crab pot pullers made these days are compatable with the Scotty bases.

Got a set of Scottys as well.  Love em. Not a single problem, except i dont get to use them enough!!!

Oh and if you get 1106's get the deals that you can pull the ball to the boat without having to turn the downrigger to the side or collapse it.  The work really well.

When you mount the puller stop, dont screw it into your boat attach it to the down rigger itself.  It works great where shown in the picture.

Scotty! life time warranty and they mean it I have had my 1101's for well over 10 years and have not cost a dime since the day I bought them except to change cable and as for that go with braided line works great less drag.

We had Cannon manual riggers on my uncle's charter boat, They worked flawless. Guess I'd look at Cannon's power downriggers first. Lots of guys on here like the Scotty. I think ether one would do a great job!

The biggest advantage to the Scottys was their speed. They used to blow everything else away with their speed. Cannon now has the fastest electrics on the market (250' per minute vs. 235 for Scotty)

Scottys were also rated for 20lb weights and Cannons weren't. Now Cannon has the same weight rating.

Scottys aren't as vastly superior as they used to be.

Scotty's also have the least amp draw,or they did. Biggest thing to check out is a repair facility. You see allot of Cannons and the like but rarely see Scotty's sitting. There warrenty is so good you can usaully get em fixed on the spot no charge.

If they need fixing, which they rarely do.

We have electric Scotty's. Actually there is a almost new one in about 100' of water near Pt. Defiance if anyone wants it! Yeah, my mistake. It was dark when I hooked it to the mount at home the night before. I didn't have the pin through correctly. It actually rode about 8 miles to the launch in Gig Harbor, made the journey over to Pt. Defiance but decided to come off the boat when I flipped it over with a ten pound ball hooked to it Lesson learned. Always make sure the pin is through correctly.

Ouch MuleySniper.  I'm always afraid I didn't get the pin in correctly.  They should come up with some sort of quick release mechanism like car seats have these days. 

Other than that concern, I've always used Scotty's and they've worked great for me.
