Calico Buck
« on: February 05, 2010, 07:25:45 PM »
Forgive me if this was already posted, I did a search and did not find it
Here is something I got thats floating around the internet, I don't know if its legit or not but here is the story:

Here is a crazy buck that a hunter got in WI. He sent these pictures to a
bunch of people to see what he could get and the owner of Cabela's paid him
$13,000 for the head and hide. A calico buck like the one below is rarer
then an albino.

I saw a doe one year that looked just like that.  That same year a buddy killed a 2pt that looked just like that.  Both blacktails.

Those deer are referred to as "Piebalds".

They are more common than an Albino.  Melanistic being the rarest.

I saw a blacktail doe that looked like that this year in the 418 unit. She had a fawn with her and it did not have any markings at all, just normal color.

2 years ago there was a nice bt shot up on capital peak looked alot like those. Also there are 2 or 3 running around the Lacey area. I'll see if i can get ahold of the pics a friend of mine took with her camera over by the mushroom farm.
Some animals WERE harmed in the making of this Hunter. They were also dragged through the dirt, butchered and tasted delicious fried with butter and bacon.

That is interesting.  Couple years ago I saw a doe up in the CF area with Piebald markings.

I use to see 3 or 4 a year and hear of at least another couple taken.  I mounted a nice Piebald 8 point (East standards) buck while I was down there.  Looked like a fawn that never lost it's spots.  Had quarter to 50 cent piece size spots all over it.

I saw one like that across the Cowlitz river at the barrier dam about 20 years ago, and a true albino doe a year or two after that.  Fun to see something different every once in awhile.
