I say dollies judging by the look of the river and the time of year and all...

All of these fish were caught in Washington. And they are all Bull Trout, yes. I know this because of their head shape and where they are in the state. I am also studying @ UW to be a fisheries biologist, and my dad and his best friend (who I was with) both have their masters in Fisheries Biology.  :chuckle:  I have more pictures of my dad with some of his and there were fish I caught that I do not have pictures of. I think we ended up with 25 between the three of us for the day.

Nice.
Looks like a very fun day of fishing.( Can't tell by your  somber expression  :chuckle:)

Using fly or gear?

Looks like bull trout to me based on the head shape.
You guys would know being fisheries biologists

ah yes... my cheesy " I'm so frickin' stoked" smile... ha ha ha  :chuckle:  :chuckle:   we were able to get a few hookups on flies but it was mainly gear....  water was high and fast that day..... so the fly fishing was tough....

whats the difference between the 2?

is there really a difference besides a dolly is sea-run and a bull is not?

not trying to have a pissing match at all please understand...
I didn't even think it was legal to target bull trout in WA. apparently I'm wrong.

there is a slight difference between the two... their DNA is different and their head shape... that is about it.... they both can be sea run... all of the fish we caught here are sea runs....  and it is open to steelhead that time of year and we were doing C&R with barbless hooks...  in a very, very select few places in this state I actually think you can target Bulls... this was one of the places.....
Nice fish jordano!  :)

thanks! It was a ton of fun! Sounds like the sturgeon are going crazy right now! We need to get out there =)
