Just curious how many certs your land owner gives out to hunt their land?

There is a block on the Landowner Form that says "I certify that I own 640 contiguous acres" and "Landowners may sponsor no more than 15 applicants in any license year".  My family's land is split between a couple peoples names so they get 30 sponsorships a year and they give out all 30.  If they had it their way they would get 100 sponsorships and give them all out.  The deer are just a pest to them and besides the income they bring from hunters in the fall, they would love to see all of them off their property.

I understand all that but knowing how they go about the draw process I was interested in how many your particular land owner gave out. Odds really are not that good going this route, I was just curios.

Mine's going out this week.  No landowner sponsor though, so I'll probably just wind up with points this year.. :'(

If you go combo your odds are actually better than land owner sponsored Pathfinder ;)

They get 30 and give out all 30.  I don't hunt elk in Montana so I only put in for Deer.   Very, very few Elk on my family's ranch so it's not worth my $$. The odds of the General deer only drawing versus the landowner deer only drawing are much lower.  I believe there are roughly 6 times as many applicants for the General Deer than there are for the Landowner Deer and it's for esentially the same number of tags.  I think it's 2100 for the General and 2000 for the Landowner.  I haven't compared the drawing stats for Landowner Deer versus the Deer/Elk combo so can't comment on that..

I know.  And if I had the extra couple of hundred bucks to drop, I would.  I should have said screw Oregon this year, and put that $$ into a Montana Deer/Elk Combo tag instead :bash:
I don't know what I was thinking... :dunno:
