photo sizes
« on: February 12, 2008, 01:27:57 PM »
I'm having problems uploading pictures into my album or into threads.  It says that the size of the photo is too large.  How do I reduce the size of the photos to get them on here?

Windows Photo Gallery comes with your Windows operating system.  You can open a photo with that program, click on the Fix button up top, then select crop and put the size you want it in.  I suggest 800 pixels for the longest side of the photo for this website...

I upload my pics in their original size to photobucket and the upload from there, is there a way to change the size when doing it this way?

That's not the way it works on all versions of windows. I believe that is for Windows XP.

That's how it works in Vista...and I think XP.  If you are using an older operating system then that I would suggest upgrading...  :o

Vista users
If all you have is Windows Photo Gallery try using the "e-mail" tab at the top, it will give you size options and then open outlook to email it, once the email opens up just right click on the picture attachment to open it up and then you can save it back to your computer.

If you have a newer version of Office it should have Microsoft Office Picture Manager if you do use it for resizeing. open the picture then up top click on "edit pictures" and then on the right side you will have options to "rezize" and an option to "compress picture".

huntingnut...this is already done for you when you upload to p-bucket. copy and paste the "direct link" of the 4 choices you have.

you can click on the picture in  photobucket and it will take you into another screen where there is a resize option, but once you do this, there is no going back. it is usually to resize to a ssmaller size.

I don't know.  I just checked it again on my other computer and in Windows Photo Gallery there is a Fix tab at the top.  From there on the right side there is a crop button.  When you select that you can choose your size.  They don't seem to have pixels, but just choose a 4x6 or 5x7 and it resizes it perfectly.

I have Vista Home Premium on my computers.  I'm not sure if all 4 of the Vista type OS's do this the same but it seems odd they wouldn't.  I'll try it on my work computers tomorrow.  That's the only free way to do it with a program that comes with your computer that I know of.

Yes I see the crop option but I want to resize the picture instead of getting a portion of it.

For $30.00 go to eBay and purchase Photoshop Elements 4.0, they say it will does not work with Vista but it works fine on my computer.

I've offered before but I doubt everyone saw it. If you are having problems or just dont want to mess with it you can email me your photos, huntnphool@aol.com and I will re size your pics any way you want them done, it only takes me 10 seconds, litterally, to do it. I will send them right back to you so you can post them.
