Trail Camera
« on: February 14, 2008, 07:20:50 PM »
I know much has been posted about trail cameras, but I have more of a specific question....or need some advice.

I've been thinking about picking up a couple trail cameras for bears for the Westside....maybe Hwy 2 area or??.  Has anyone ever used cameras for bear in the area?  Any advice on the kind of areas I should place one, specifically for bear?  I'd love to take a bear this year, and want to get ready for this years season.

Thanks!

thats a hard one, bears are not very patternable to where they will be everyday,so to get one in the camera is pretty hard. Get a steel case for your camera, the bears will screw with it if they find it.

While bears are not patternable like WTs, at times of abundant food they can be. You will need to find a good food source and a heavily used trail. If you only want the trailcams for bears, I think you will be better off with a good pair of binos, a couple calls and a video on calling.

If you use a trailcamera in bear country make sure you use a lockbox.I lost alot of cameras to them before I did.
