I use Bondo on almost all my mounts.  Most of the time on larger game (elk, Moose, Etc) I will use earliners.  It is easier to give the ears a natural shape with ear liners.  I prefer bondo, because I have been using it for over 5 years and I have gotten good with it.  Plus it is quicker than removing the cartilage and waiting for the ear adhesive to set up.

The trick to using Bondo is to add a good bit of fine chopped fiber glass in with it and NOT putting to much in the ear.  Once the cartilage drys it gives it just that much more of a back bone.

I used bondo.  I think its one of the best ways to get the natural ear.  I don't like the troubles I have had with earliners.  I add alot of chopped fiberglass to it, and it bonds really well to the ear.

Oh on the first page Ephrata was brought up.  Soap lake was where that sheriff was shot in the back by a guy coyote hunting over there a couple months ago, Ephrata and soap lake aren't that far apart.

Saw 5 coyotes out there today in about an hours time, and only two of them were together.  Could have killed every one of them.  I swear they know when you are packing or not.

Nice work Bone! ! ! !  This is your first small mammal, right?

The ears are to far to the side.  They should be more on top of the head.  The pose that you chose is an alert pose.  Almost exactly like the grey fox I did.

All feet that are going to be attached to a hard surface (log, ground, branch, etc) should dry on one.  Other wise the foot won't be formed to what they are touching. :)  I try to build my bases first and than mount the animal on the base so I can form it to the base.

This was actually my first attempt at a small mammal.  I used bondo in the ears and Dry Preservative.  The same stuff I sent to you Bone.

That is just an AWESOME mount. Sure hope mine comes out that good. Very nice work!

Can't see the pics at work.  Marking for later...
