This is a well oiled machine and they are not looking out for just wolves, they are serious activists.  This shows why our joining advocate groups for hunter's rights is very important, SCI, RMEF, Ducks Unlimited, NRA etc.

Also, they have money. Assets in 2008 were in excess of $187 million and the annual budget is over $80 million a year.

Here is their Board member list:

Frances Beinecke, Executive Director; Co-founder, The New York League of Conservation Voters
Robert Redford, Trustee and Director; Film actor & director; Manager, the Redford Foundation
Laurance Rockefeller, Trustee; Private philanthropist; Former chairman, Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Former chairman, Citizens Advisory Committee on Environmental Quality; Trustee, the Laurance Rockefeller Charitable Trust
John H. Adams, President & Co-founder; Former Assistant US Attorney (New York)
Adam Albright, Vice Chair; Board member, Redefining Progress; Board Chair, Population Communications International; Program Chair, Conservation International
Richard E. Ayres, Co-founder & Treasurer; Partner, Howrey & Simon; Former chairman, National Clean Air Coalition
Linda Geer, Health & Environment Program Director; Former staff scientist, Environmental Defense; Former technical director, Hazardous Waste Treatment Council
Alan Horn,Vice Chair; Chairman & Chief Operating Officer, Warner Brothers
Burks Lapham, Vice Chair; Chairman, Concern Inc.; Director, Chesapeake Bay Foundation
Alan Metrick, Director of Communications; Former Partner, The PR Consulting Group (New York City); Former Exec VP, David M. Grant Inc.
Kathleen Scheg, Legislative Director
Frederick A. O. Schwartz, Jr., Chairman of the Board; Partner, Cravath Swaine & Moore; Former NYC corporation counsel (under Mayor Ed Koch)
Gregory Wetstone, Legislative Director; Former environmental chief counsel, US Congressional Health and Environment Subcommittee; Author, "Acid Rain in Europe and North America"
George Woodwell; Vice Chair; Founding Director, Woods Hole Research Center

Here's a statement about their finances from their website and a pie chart showing only 6% of the budget goes to fundraising.

I am glad somebody put this up. I received mine and like many of you who read it, I considered wiping my A$$ with it. Instead I called them and chatted with a nice lady and I continued to play into her thinking:
The conversation went like this:

Me-  I do believe we have to save the wolves, they are such beautiful animals.

Her-  I am glad to see you have a soft place in your heart for these wolves to be preserved.

Me-  Being a hunter and a conservationist I do believe in Wolf preservation!

Me-        TAKE ONE TO THE TAXIDERMIST!!!!!!

Her-    CLICK!! Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppp!!!!

I don't think I made her day but sure as hell made mine!!!! Kill'em all!!

note in the pie chart.....83% goes to "environmental issues" however that is misleading because in smaller print to the side they mention legislative and legal....I'd say that 83% probably mostly goes to creating lawsuits and legislating and they are simply another front for money collection by HSUS...this is my guess I am lacking the time right this minute to dig up any proof tying them together but I am pretty sure they are on HSUS's donation list

Holy crap, I am in the wrong business. Is it just me or does it seem like "non-profit" orgs make an ass-ton of money nowadays? Anyone wanna start one up with me?  :P

Donor Privacy Policy

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) respects the privacy of its donors and has put in place a Donor Privacy Policy to honor your rights.

General Collection and Use of Personal Information

The HSUS collects and uses personal information such as: name, address, phone number, and email address when a donor voluntarily provides it to us. In addition, HSUS keeps a record of each donor's giving history. This information is kept on file for IRS purposes and is also used by the Development Department to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make more accurate budget projections.

At times, The HSUS shares the names and addresses of its donors with other groups which may have information of interest for the recipients. Once a year, donors are asked whether they would like to be excluded from these third party mailings. Personal account number information is never disclosed for any purpose.

i wonder how many of these wolf protectors spend time in the wilderness unarmed among the packs, or have livestock living amongst them.
