bipod for muzzleloader

i was thinking of getting a bipod for my muzzleloader. has anyone tried one on there smokepole thought it may help if your shooting at 100 to 125 yds. at a elk or deer i usually shoot standing up off hand.

i have a harris on my muzzles just like my rifles and some pistols they are always great to help get a rock solid rest when there may not be a tree or a post or such. i prefer bipods to shooting stick one less thing to carry since it is always on the gun and less time to click my bipod legs into the position i need to shoot as well. the sticks are good if you do a lot os standing shooting

what size of bipod would you recommend i dont know much about them. wondering which size works best on a muzzleloader.

i like the longer size like 13-25" or what ever that model is. the small one that starts at like 8-9" and only goes to 13" is just to short unless you are always shooting prone or from a bench. the one i said works in prone and sitting as well

Ditto on the Harris bipod. I shot a 5x5 muley with mine at 125 yrds in the sitting position. Rock solid rest. Adds a little wieght but definitely worth it.

are you useing a ultralight or a pivoting bipod i looked at cabelas website and these two were the most popular. thanks i forgot to add it to my last reply

I use a Harris as well, get the big one it is worth it.  Make sure it swivels.  Tipped over my elk at 150 yards, only due to the rock solid rest, and a ton of practise with it.

Check out E-bay they usually have quite a few up for bid.Can pick one up for a pretty good price.

Versapod for me.  I won't shoot offhand anymore.  Everything gets shot from the seated position, bipod employed.

anyone had issues with mounting one on?  I atempted mounting one, but then couldent seat my ramrod.

nope never had any problems puting them on my guns

I use the Stoney Point Rapid pivot system.  I put the attachment piece on several of my rifles and my muzzy and the same bipod snaps onto any of them.  I use the sitting/kneeling height and it doubles as a walking stick when I moving around.

Carp, If i see you at the BBQ I'll have to take a look at your set-up.  With the Tru-Glow sights and the bi-pod and I think I read that you shoot a Black Diamond (one of your rifles anyways).  I may just "copy" your set-up for it sounds like what i've been working towards.

yep no prob still hopin to make it up there and yes one of my guns is a black diamond xr and a cva elkhorn, ni prob copying has been a deadly combo over the years
