travel trailer ????'s
« on: May 17, 2007, 02:30:09 PM »
seriously considering selling or trading in my boat on a travel trailer(used most likely) that i can tow with my 1/2 ton truck so something under 24' most likely. i'd like to hear anybody's input or advice on brand names, what to look out for, etc
i think we've decided the trailer would get more use than the boat and i can't have both :bash:

Look at Arctic Fox. They're insulated for use in cold weather, and built so that they can handle being towed on rough, unpaved backroads. I just bought a '99 last Fall. Will be trying it out for the first time this weekend. Here is their website:

Also, this is a good message board to look at:

thanks bobcat...that rv forum looks like a good one.
i'd love to pick up a good used arctic fox, but good, used and within my price range may be a tough combo with that brand.
if you wouldn't mind, feel free to pm but let me know the price range of your trailer. if you don't care to share i understand.

If I went with a travel trailer, I really like the Takena by Chalet. we checked them out at the sportsman's show and they're a real good mid-size value camper with a lot of options.

I got mine for $9000. Check www.craigslist.com. That's where I found mine, and although you don't see used Arctic Fox trailers for sale very often, they are on there occasionally. In fact I just looked a couple weeks ago, just out of curiosity, and there was one listed on there, and it was somewhere in western Wa. Maybe it's still there. How much are you wanting to spend?

yeah bobcat...thats a beauty but out of my range. i'd probably be looking for a starter rig in the $7000-8000. range.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/rvs/332696429.html
thats one i'd probably want to look at.
that sort of thing for a couple years or so, then move up. the wife and i have a tendency of deciding on these hobbies, then not following through(insert boat, oops) so i'd like to make sure it's something we are actually going to stick to, then upgrade.

Well heck, that one's almost the same thing, just with aluminum siding instead of fiberglass. Very nice! Nash and Arctic Fox are the same, both made by Northwood.

yep...key word though is it's like almost half the price...
thats kind of what i'm looking for...thats a good brand, thats a crappy brand..etc
is it worth buying the lifted one or having it done? i'd assume it would be nice to have the additional clearance.
thanks for the input

Bobcat, who deals in Arctic Fox locally? I know they have some good truck campers.

I bought a 98 prowler 22 foot northwest edition, that means double insulation...

for 5000, it is a bunk with a double bed. I wish it had a bigger bed but it is very usefull.

Sleeps 3 for hunting, and me the wife and son for camping...
*censored* happens when you party naked!!!
